Hareshwar Nath Mahadev Mandir is an ancient Hindu Lord Shiva temple in the Mithila region of Bihar at Dwalakh village of Madhubani district. It is situated on the bank of Bhutahi-Balan river. It is an old Shiva temple. [1] [2] [3] [4]

History

It is believed that the temple was built by the Darbhanga Maharaj Shree Lakshmeshwar Singh Bahardur of Darbhanga Raj Kingdom. It was built between 1858 AD and 1869 AD under the supervision of the then Chief Executive Officer, Shree Jhuna Lal Shah of the Kingdom. The Kingdom donated 12 acres of farming land to the temple for the source of fund to run the different religious activities of the temple. On the east side of the temple, there is a big pond for bathing purpose of the pilgrims coming to the temple for worship. [5] The temple was included in the list of archeological department as "Protected Heritage Monument of Bihar" in 2015 by the Government of Bihar. [6]

Baliraajgadh is an archaeological site located at Babubarhi block in Madhubani district of Mithila region of Bihar state in India. The site is locally known as Raja Bali ka Garh. It is among the three important archeological sites Balirajgarh fort, Telhara and Nalanda in the state of Bihar in India. The site of Balirajgarh is greater than the site of Vikramshila and Vaishali but it has not yet been developed as a tourist place. Balirajgarh Fort is located on the territory of Mithila, 7 kilometers east of Kamlabalan River and 35 kilometers west of Kosi River. It has been claimed by some scholars to be the location of the ancient city of Mithila. The headquarter of the Ancient Mithila University was at the court of King Janaka in Mithila. Therefore, Balirajgadh is also the possible site of the Ancient Mithila University. It is the place from where most of the schools of the ancient Indian philosophy emerged. Nyaya Shastra, Logical sciences, Samkhya Shastra, Mimansa Shastra and many more Indian philosophy emerged from the Ancient Mithila University.

This place has been recognised by the Government of Bihar in 2020 as tourist centre for Hindu pilgrims. This place is related to Lord Rama.

Gandiveshwar Sthan is a place mentioned in the Hindu epic the Mahabharata and a religious tourist centre for Hindu pilgrims. In the Mahabharata, when the Pandavas were exiled from their kingdom to the forest by the Kauravas, Arjuna hid his Gandiva bow and all his weapons under a shami tree, which adherents believe is at this site.

The junction of these river streams is a religious place for the local Hindu pilgrimage called as Jamuni Sangam. The village is only 3 kms distance from the headquarter of the Madhwapur block in Madhubani district of Bihar. There is a destroyed wooden bridge in the village built during the British rule to connect the village with the nearest market village Saharghat. Local BJP leader and MLC Ghanshyam Thakur raised the issue of the destroyed wood bridge in the session of Legislative Council of Bihar state in India.

Saharghat is a semi urban panchayat in Madhwapur block of Madhubani district in Mithila region of Bihar, India. It is connected by National Highway 104 and State Highway 75 with different parts of the major cities in the state of Bihar, India and Madhesh Pradesh province of Nepal. The village comes under Harlakhi Assembly constituency and Madhubani Lok Sabha constituency.

Shringi Rishi Ashram at Singiya Village of Madhubani district in the Mithila region of Bihar is an ancient Ashram related to the Vedic sage Shringi in Ramayana. In the campus of Ashram there is a famous Lord Shiva temple known as Shringeshwar Mahadev Mandir.
