Harpalus aterrimus is a species of ground beetle in the subfamily Harpalinae. [1] It was described by Thomas Lincoln Casey Jr. in 1914. [1]

In 324 BC he fled from Babylon to Athens with a large sum of money. The resulting political controversy in Athens was a contributing factor in the Lamian War.
