Harry Reid (born 22 June 1992) is an English actor. He is known for his role as Ben Mitchell in the BBC soap opera EastEnders , from 2014 until 2018.

Career

Reid trained in acting, physical theatre and musical theatre at Miskin Theatre in Dartford from 2008, until 2010. He performed in several stage shows including Wind in the Willows, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui and Agamemnon. [3] Reid then underwent a three year BA (Hons) Acting degree at The Arts University Bournemouth between 2010 and 2013. [3]

In early 2014, Reid appeared as Tom in a short film, The Last Waltz, for Canterbury Christ Church. He later appeared as Ricky in a feature film, K-Shop, for White Lantern Films. [3]

On 18 July 2014, it was announced that Reid had been cast in the role of Ben Mitchell in the BBC soap opera EastEnders . He became the fifth actor to portray the character, replacing Joshua Pascoe. [4] Reid expressed his excitement at joining the cast and portraying Ben, stating that Ben has such a rich backstory and is "so renowned". [4] He added that he looked forward to working with actor Steve McFadden, who portrays Ben's father Phil Mitchell. [4] EastEnders is Reid's first major role since leaving university. [5] On 2 October 2017, it was announced that Reid would be leaving the soap after producers decided to write out the character. [6] He confirmed that he would finish filming in December 2017. [7] Reid made his final appearance on 12 January 2018. [8]

Reid told Daniel Kilkelly of entertainment website Digital Spy that he had received offers after leaving EastEnders and that he would be attending auditions. [8] On 23 February 2018, Reid announced that he would join the stage production of Witness for the Prosecution , portraying the character Leonard Vole. On the role, Reid commented, "It's a very interesting part to play, and the story keeps you guessing until the end." [9] In October 2019, he appeared in the fifth series of the E4 reality series Celebrity Coach Trip . In December 2023, Reid portrayed Leonardo Sampson in an episode of the BBC soap opera Doctors . Ben Mitchell (<i>EastEnders</i>) Fictional character from EastEnders

Ben Mitchell is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, who has been played by six different actors since his on-screen birth on 21 March 1996. Matthew Silver appeared as an infant Ben between 1996 and 1998, and Morgan Whittle played him as a toddler between 1999 and 2001. After a five-year absence from the series, Charlie Jones assumed the role of Ben in 2006. In 2010, the character was recast with Joshua Pascoe in the role, who made his first appearance on 13 December 2010. Pascoe quit the role in 2012 and Ben departed on 24 August 2012. Ben's return was announced in May 2014 with Harry Reid in the role; Ben returned on 22 September 2014. Reid was written out of the series in 2017 and Ben departed on 12 January 2018. Ben was reintroduced in 2019 with the role recast to Max Bowden. Ben returned on 1 April 2019. In December 2023, it was announced Bowden would exit the role in 2024.

She departed from Emmerdale in 2019 to focus on other creative projects, such as writing her debut novel, Rosemary and the Witches of Pendle Hill, released in August 2020. The Slater family are a fictional family from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, that have appeared since Episode 1,997, first broadcast in September 2000. The family are introduced as a central family unit, originally consisting of father Charlie Slater, grandmother Mo Harris, Charlie's daughters, Kat Slater, Lynne Slater, Little Mo Morgan and Kat's teenage daughter Zoe Slater, and Lynne's partner Garry Hobbs.
