She later gave up the seat to represent another,Rashid was elected in the by-election by defeating Moudud Ahmed,the candidate of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. [4] He lost the eighth parliamentary elections in 2001 and the ninth parliamentary elections in 2008. [5]
Mohammad Mohammadullah was the third president of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Mohammadullah became the Acting President on 24 December 1973,was elected president on 24 January 1974,and took oath of office on 27 January 1974. He remained President until 25 January 1975.

Lakshmipur was the part of Noakhali until 15 February 1984. The western part of Noakhali was elevated from Lakshmipur subdivision to Lakshmipur district mainly to provide administrative facilities.
