Haryana Olympic Association (HOA) is an autonomous body of sports in Indian state of Haryana which is affiliated with Indian Olympic Association. Founded in 1966, HOA is apex sports body working for the promotion and development of sports in the Haryana.

Disputes

In the year 2006 Congress MP and Industrialist Mr. Naveen Jindal, along with another MP Mr. Jaiprakash and MLA Mr. Anand Singh Dangi and DGP Mr. P. V. Rathi with the help of Haryana Police and Muscle men forcefully occupied the Haryana Olympic Bhawan at Panchkula and office of the Haryana Olympic Association and tried to remove Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala from his post. [1] The case is under litigation in the court of Law [2] However, the Indian Olympic Association stands besides the Haryana Olympic Association headed by Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala, MLA [3]

The forged case against Mr. H. S. Bhadu has been filed by Haryana Police later Mr. Bhadu get bail from High Court [4] and the honorable High Court of Punjab and Haryana issued notice to IPS Mr. Param Veer Rathi.

On 2 October 2007 Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala re-elected as President of Haryana Olympic Association [5] and IOA gives its recognition to his re-election. [6] On 25 September 2008 Mr. P V Rathi, IPS elected as President of the other faction of HOA. On 8 October 2008 Panchkula Court restrain Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala to use the name and banner of Haryana Olympic Association. Both the factions went to the IOA with their papers. IOA referred the matter of HOA to Disputes and Affiliation Commission of IOA under Chairmanship of Mr. R. K. Anand, Senior Advocate and President, Jharkhand Olympic Association. After hearing both the factions several times. Mr. R K Anand given his verdict in favour of Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala and he condemns the act of Haryana Government by interfering in the Activities of Haryana Olympic Association (HOA), which hurts the autonomy of State Olympic Association. On 12 February 2011 in the General Body Meeting of IOA held at Ranchi the General House adopted the Report and verdict of Disputes and affiliation Commission of IOA, and once again IOA recognized Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala as President of Haryana Olympic Association. Om Prakash Chautala also known as O.P. Chautala is an Indian politician who has served as the 7th Chief Minister of Haryana from the Indian National Lok Dal. He is the son of 6th Deputy Prime Minister of India, Chaudhary Devi Lal. He holds the record for being the oldest prisoner of the Tihar Jail of Delhi, before his release in 2020. He was the chief minister of Haryana for record four times.

Ajay Singh Chautala is a former Indian MP and sports administrator. He is elder son of former Chief Minister of Haryana Om Prakash Chautala and father of former Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana Dushyant Chautala.

The Ruchika Girhotra case involves the molestation of 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra in 1990 by the Inspector General of Police Shambu in Haryana, India. After she made a complaint, the victim, her family, and her friends were systematically harassed by the police leading to her eventual suicide. On 22 December 2009, after 19 years, 40 adjournments, and more than 400 hearings, the court finally pronounced Rathore guilty under Section 354 IPC (molestation) and sentenced him to six months' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000. The CBI had opposed Rathore's plea and had sought an enhancement of his sentence from six months to the maximum of two years after his conviction. Rejecting his appeal against his conviction by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court, Chandigarh District Court on 25 May sentenced the disgraced former police official to one-and-a-half years of rigorous imprisonment, enhancing his earlier six-month sentence and immediately taken into custody and taken to the Burail prison. On 11 November 2010, the Supreme Court granted bail to S.P.S. Rathore on the condition that he remain in Chandigarh. Recently, the Supreme Court of India upheld Rathore's conviction in molestation case but restricted the punishment to six months' jail already served by him considering his age.

Netball Federation of India (NFI) is the national governing body of Netball in India. NFI is a non-profit, government funded organisation affiliated with the International Netball Federation (INF), the Asian Federation of Netball Association (AFNA) and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. NFI was established in 1978 to standardise rules and regulations and to promote and develop the growth of netball in India. NFI operates all the Indian national representative netball sides, including the India national netball team and youth sides as well. NFI is also responsible for organising and hosting netball tournaments within India and scheduling the home international fixtures. Vagish Pathak is the current president of the organisation.

Abhay Singh Chautala is an Indian politician. He was a member of the Haryana Legislative Assembly from Ellenabad. He served as Leader of the Opposition in Haryana Legislative Assembly from 2014 to 2019. He has been elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly for four terms since 2010. He served as the 10th president of Indian Olympic Association. He also served as president of the Boxing Federation of India. He is grandson of Devi Lal, former deputy prime minister of India. He is a member of the Indian National Lok Dal.

Dushyant Singh Chautala is an Indian politician who served as the 6th Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana from 2019 to 2024. He represented the Uchana Kalan constituency in Haryana Legislative Assembly from 2019 until 2024 and was sworn-in as Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana upon making an alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party after the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly election.

Naina Singh Chautala is an Indian politician from Jannayak Janata Party and a former member of Haryana Legislative Assembly from Badhra. Previously she was the member of Indian National Lok Dal and represented Dabwali in Haryana Legislative Assembly. She is the wife of Ajay Singh Chautala and mother of Dushyant Chautala and Digvijay Chautala. She is the third and last daughter of Ch. Bhim Singh Godara and Smt. Kantadevi Godara.

Ranjit Singh Chautala is a politician and businessman from the Indian state of Haryana. Elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly and the Rajya Sabha, he has also served in ministerial posts. Previously a member of the Indian National Lok Dal, the Janata Dal, the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party, he won the seat of Rania in the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections as an independent. Anoop Dhanak is an Indian politician. He was elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly from Uklana in the 2014 and 2019 elections as a member of the Indian National Lok Dal.

Pirthi Singh Numberdar is an Indian politician. He was elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly from Narwana, Haryana in the 2009 and 2014 as a member of the Indian National Lok Dal.

On 25 August 2017, widespread rioting in northern India broke out after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the religious leader of Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS), was convicted of rape. The riots began in Panchkula and later spread to other parts of the northern Indian states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and the capital, New Delhi. At least 41 people were killed, the majority of them in Panchkula, where 32 people were allegedly killed by police gunfire. More than 300 others were injured.
