Haryana Olympic Association (HOA) is an autonomous body of sports in Indian state of Haryana which is affiliated with Indian Olympic Association. Founded in 1966, HOA is apex sports body working for the promotion and development of sports in the Haryana.

Disputes

In the year 2006 Congress MP and Industrialist Mr. Naveen Jindal, along with another MP Mr. Jaiprakash and MLA Mr. Anand Singh Dangi and DGP Mr. P. V. Rathi with the help of Haryana Police and Muscle men forcefully occupied the Haryana Olympic Bhawan at Panchkula and office of the Haryana Olympic Association and tried to remove Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala from his post. [1] The case is under litigation in the court of Law [2] However, the Indian Olympic Association stands besides the Haryana Olympic Association headed by Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala, MLA [3]

The forged case against Mr. H. S. Bhadu has been filed by Haryana Police later Mr. Bhadu get bail from High Court [4] and the honorable High Court of Punjab and Haryana issued notice to IPS Mr. Param Veer Rathi.

On 2 October 2007 Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala re-elected as President of Haryana Olympic Association [5] and IOA gives its recognition to his re-election. [6] On 25 September 2008 Mr. P V Rathi, IPS elected as President of the other faction of HOA. On 8 October 2008 Panchkula Court restrain Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala to use the name and banner of Haryana Olympic Association. Both the factions went to the IOA with their papers. IOA referred the matter of HOA to Disputes and Affiliation Commission of IOA under Chairmanship of Mr. R. K. Anand, Senior Advocate and President, Jharkhand Olympic Association. After hearing both the factions several times. Mr. R K Anand given his verdict in favour of Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala and he condemns the act of Haryana Government by interfering in the Activities of Haryana Olympic Association (HOA), which hurts the autonomy of State Olympic Association. On 12 February 2011 in the General Body Meeting of IOA held at Ranchi the General House adopted the Report and verdict of Disputes and affiliation Commission of IOA, and once again IOA recognized Mr. Abhay Singh Chautala as President of Haryana Olympic Association. Om Prakash Chautala is an Indian politician from Haryana who served as a former Chief Minister of Haryana from Indian National Lok Dal and son of 6th Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal.

Although India is a parliamentary democracy, the country's politics has become dynastic or with high level of nepotism, possibly due to the absence of party organizations, independent civil-society associations which mobilize support for a party, or centralized financing of elections. The dynastic phenomenon is present at the national, state, regional, and district level. The Nehru–Gandhi family has produced three Indian prime ministers, and family members have largely led the Congress party since 1978. Kuldeep Bishnoi is an Indian politician and a member of Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as fourth-time member of Haryana Legislative Assembly from Adampur in the Hisar (city) of Haryana. He was also a member of Congress Central Working Committee (CWC). Earlier in 2007, Bishnoi had founded a new party, Haryana Janhit Congress, a breakaway faction of Indian National Congress.

Ajay Singh Chautala is a former Indian MP and sports administrator. He is elder son of former Chief Minister of Haryana Om Prakash Chautala and father of current Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana Dushyant Chautala.

Randeep Singh Surjewala is an Indian politician from Haryana and a member of Indian National Congress party. He was an MLA in the Haryana state legislature until 2019 and a former minister. He held water supply and sanitation, parliamentary affairs, electronics and information technology, science and technology and public works as a minister in Haryana cabinet. In 2005, he was given the responsibility of Transport and Parliamentary Affairs and thus became the youngest minister in Haryana. He defeated Om Prakash Chautala in 1996 and 2005. As of December 2017, Surjewala is one of the official spokespersons of Indian National Congress party, and as of September 2021, is a General Secretary of the Indian National Congress and Party in-charge for Karnataka. In the biennial elections of the Rajya Sabha for the State of Rajasthan, held on 10 June 2022, Mr. Surjewala was elected as a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, with his term to start on 5 July 2022.

The Ruchika Girhotra case involves the molestation of 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra in 1990 by the Inspector General of Police Shambu in Haryana, India. After she made a complaint, the victim, her family, and her friends were systematically harassed by the police leading to her eventual suicide. On 22 December 2009, after 19 years, 40 adjournments, and more than 400 hearings, the court finally pronounced Rathore guilty under Section 354 IPC (molestation) and sentenced him to six months' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000. The CBI had opposed Rathore's plea and had sought an enhancement of his sentence from six months to the maximum of two years after his conviction. Rejecting his appeal against his conviction by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court, Chandigarh District Court on 25 May sentenced the disgraced former police official to one-and-a-half years of rigorous imprisonment, enhancing his earlier six-month sentence and immediately taken into custody and taken to the Burail prison. On 11 November 2010, the Supreme Court granted bail to S.P.S. Rathore on the condition that he remain in Chandigarh. Recently, the Supreme Court of India upheld Rathore's conviction in molestation case but restricted the punishment to six months' jail already served by him considering his age.

Netball Federation of India (NFI) is the national governing body of Netball in India. NFI is a non-profit, government funded organisation affiliated with the International Netball Federation (INF), the Asian Federation of Netball Association (AFNA) and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. NFI was established in 1978 to standardise rules and regulations and to promote and develop the growth of netball in India. NFI operates all the Indian national representative netball sides, including the India national netball team and youth sides as well. NFI is also responsible for organising and hosting netball tournaments within India and scheduling the home international fixtures. Vagish Pathak is the current president of the organisation.

Naina Singh Chautala is an Indian politician from Jannayak Janata Party and a member of Haryana Legislative Assembly from Badhra. Previously she was the member of Indian National Lok Dal and represented Dabwali in Haryana Legislative Assembly. She is the wife of Ajay Singh Chautala and mother of Dushyant Chautala and Digvijay Chautala. She is the third and last daughter of Ch. Bhim Singh Godara and Smt. Kantadevi Godara.

Ranjit Singh Chautala is a politician and businessman from the Indian state of Haryana. Elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly and the Rajya Sabha, he has also served in ministerial posts. Previously a member of the Indian National Lok Dal, the Janata Dal, the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party, he won the seat of Rania in the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections as an independent. Following the election, along with his grandnephew Dushyant Chautala, he supported the BJP to secure a majority and entered the Second Manohar Lal Khattar ministry with three portfolios: New and Renewable Energy, Power and Jails.

Anoop Dhanak is an Indian politician. He was elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly from Uklana in the 2014 and 2019 as a member of the Indian National Lok Dal.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2017 Northern India riots</span> Riots in north india

On 25 August 2017, widespread rioting in northern India broke out after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the religious leader of Dera Sacha Sauda, was convicted of rape. The riots began in Panchkula and later spread to other parts of the northern Indian states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and the capital, New Delhi. At least 41 people were killed, the majority of them in Panchkula, where 32 people were allegedly killed by police gunfire. More than 300 others were injured.

Legislative Assembly election was held in Haryana on 21 October 2019 to elect 90 members of the Haryana Legislative Assembly. The final voter turnout was recorded at 68.20%. The results were announced on 24 October 2019.

The Jannayak Janta Party, abbreviated as, JJP is an Indian state-level political party in Haryana, India. JJP is a recognized state political party. JJP was founded on 9 December 2018 by Dushyant Chautala with the ideology of Devi Lal, who served as Deputy Prime Minister of India. Based on the ideology of Jat solidarity and socialism, JJP is very strong and popular in some parts of Haryana.
