Hazara Electric Supply Company (HAZECO) is an electric utility company of the Government of Pakistan. It was established on 6 January 2023, by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in response to the needs of the people residing in the Hazara region. HAZECO was formed as a separate Disco with bifurcation of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO). [1] [2] [3]
The formation of HAZECO was authorized by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to enhance the overall management of the Electricit Utility of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), aiming to improve operational efficiency, reduce power losses, and enhance customer service. Following the Prime Minister's approval, PESCO was divided into two distinct companies: PESCO and HAZECO. PESCO comprises six circles, namely Peshawar District, Khyber District, Swat District, Bannu District, Mardan District, and Swabi District circles, while HAZECO consists of two circles: Hazara-I and Hazara-II Circles, with its headquarters located in Abbottabad. Distribution companies (DISCOs) are companies under Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) responsible for distribution of electricity in their respective allocated areas. They buy electricity from producers such as Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), GENCOs, PAEC and other private Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and sell it to their respective area customers. All companies are owned by the Government of Pakistan except K-Electric, which was privatized in 2005.

The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus is a 83.6 km (51.9 mi) bus rapid transit system operating in the Islamabad–Rawalpindi metropolitan area of Pakistan. The Green Line is an express train operated daily by Pakistan Railways between Karachi and Islamabad. It is the flagship rail of the organization and has the highest passage priority. The train takes approximately 21 hours to cover a published distance of 1,521 kilometres (945 mi), traveling along a stretch of the Karachi–Peshawar Railway Line. It was inaugurated by Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on 15 May 2015 at Islamabad railway station.
The Margalla Avenue or Margalla Expressway is a 33-kilometer six-lane highway in the Margalla Hills area in the suburbs of Islamabad, Pakistan. It was planned in 1966, but work on it was stalled till 2021. The road is an alternative to the Srinagar Highway, and provides easy access of the tenth and eleventh sectors of Islamabad to the N-5 National Highway. This road is a crucial section of the larger Rawalpindi Ring Road project as it connects the town of Sangjani to the town of Barakahu.

He was sworn in as prime minister by Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani while acting as president on behalf of Arif Alvi. Sharif remained in office until 14 August 2023, when he stepped down for a caretaker government to participate in the 2024 general election. After a heavily contested election, Sharif was re-elected as prime minister on 4 March 2024, defeating the PTI-backed Omar Ayub Khan.

The Lahore–Sahiwal–Bahawalnagar Motorway is an upcoming motorway undertaking in Punjab, Pakistan. The project received approval from the executive board of the National Highway Authority (NHA) within their yearly maintenance plan for the period 2023–24. This motorway aims to establish a connection between the cities of Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, and Bahawalnagar. The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved over Rs.263.79 billion for this project.
After the 2024 general elections in Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif's second government was formed. Shehbaz Sharif from the Pakistan Muslim League (N) was elected as the Prime Minister. President Asif Ali Zardari took the oath of office. The new Cabinet composition has been described as a "Lean", with its composition being influenced by the need of the new government to respond quickly to the current economic crisis. The Cabinet includes PML (N), MQM (P), PML (Q), IPP and independents.
Ahad Khan Cheema is a retired Pakistani bureaucrat who is the current Federal Minister of Economic Affairs, appointed on 11 March 2024. Previously, he has served as a chief executive officer (CEO) of the Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Company and director-general of the Lahore Development Authority. In 2018, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Cheema on charges related to irregularities in the Ashiana Housing Scheme project during his time as chairman of the LDA. The investigation also involved former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's principal secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad and Shehbaz Sharif. Cheema was released on bail in 2021 after spending three years in jail and was acquitted of all charges by the NAB in 2023. He took retirement from civil service in January 2023.
