Zapata County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census,its population was 13,889. Its county seat is Zapata. The county is east of the Mexico–United States border and is named for Colonel JoséAntonio de Zapata,a rancher in the area who rebelled against Mexico.

The Treviño–Uribe Rancho is a historic fortified home at the junction of Trevino and Uribe Streets in the small frontier town of San Ygnacio,Texas. With a construction history dating to 1830,it is one of the oldest surviving buildings from the period of Spanish-Mexican settlement of the north bank of the lower Rio Grande. The building was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1998.

David Alameel,who came in first in the primary,won the runoff and became his party's nominee. In the general election,Cornyn defeated Alameel in a landslide.

Ambassador Katz holds a B.A. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law in Washington D.C. He was raised in a Jewish family in St. Louis,the son of Fred and Eileen Katz. His father escaped Nazi Germany for the United States where he worked as a salesman;and was one of the original founders of the St. Louis Holocaust Museum. Katz graduated from University City High School.
