Helcogramma shinglensis is a species of triplefin from the genus Helcogramma . It has been recorded only from the Gulf of Mannar in the eastern Indian Ocean. [1] It is accepted as a valid species by Fishbase but the Catalog of Fishes treats this taxon as synonymous with Helcogramma obtusirostris . [2]

It was synonymised with Helcogramma inclinata by Ronald Fricke in 1997 but its status as a valid species was reasserted by Satokuni Tashiro in 2014. It is not included in FishBase but is in the Catalog of Fishes.
