Henley Borough Police

Henley Borough Police was the police force responsible for policing the borough of Henley in Oxfordshire, England until 1856. [1]

It had been established in 1836 as a result of the Municipal Corporations Act of 1835. Henley Borough Police was amalgamated into the newly formed Oxfordshire Constabulary as a result of the County and Borough Police Act 1856.

Henley is today policed by the successor to Oxfordshire Constabulary, Thames Valley Police.

Henley is a constituency in Oxfordshire represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2008 by John Howell, a member of the Conservative Party.

Henley was a rural district in Oxfordshire, England from 1894 to 1974.

Reading Borough Police was a police force for the borough of Reading in the United Kingdom. The force was created on 21 February 1836, at which time it had a strength of 30 constables, two sergeants and two inspectors. Towards the end of the 19th century, Reading Borough Police had increased in size to 62 officers. However, the local population had risen to around 60,500, which meant one officer for every 1,000 inhabitants. By the time of the First World War the force had an establishment of 113 officers, however, due to military service only 30 officers were patrolling Reading.

Berkshire Constabulary is a former Home Office police force which was responsible for policing the county of Berkshire in Southern England. Berkshire Constabulary was merged with several other adjacent police forces in 1968 to form the Thames Valley Police.
