The 1964 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XVIII Olympiad and commonly known as Tokyo 1964, were an international multi-sport event held from 10 to 24 October 1964 in Tokyo, Japan. Tokyo had been awarded the organization of the 1940 Summer Olympics, but this honor was subsequently passed to Helsinki due to Japan's invasion of China, before ultimately being cancelled due to World War II. Tokyo was chosen as the host city during the 55th IOC Session in West Germany on 26 May 1959.

Jamaica competed in the Winter Olympic Games for the first time at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. They competed in one sport, Bobsledding, in both the two-man and four-man events and finished outside the medal places in both competitions. Athletes were recruited from the Jamaica Defence Force, which saw Dudley Stokes, Devon Harris, and Michael White become the first members of the team. Caswell Allen was the fourth man, but was injured prior to the start of the Olympics and was replaced by Chris Stokes, who was only in Canada to support his brother and new teammate Dudley.

Bolivia sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, China. The South American country's delegation was the fifteenth Summer Olympic team and seventeenth overall Olympic team overall sent by the country. Bolivia's National Olympic Committee sent seven athletes–three women and four men–across five sports and seven distinct events. A substantial number of the athletes originated in southern Bolivian cities, most notably Santa Cruz de la Sierra. All athletes except for cyclist Horacio Gallardo finished their events, although no medals were won by the country at these Games. Trap shooter César Menacho was the Bolivian flag bearer at the ceremonies.
Chad sent a delegation of two athletes to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China: Moumi Sébergué, who competed in the men's 100 meters, and Hinikissia Albertine Ndikert, who competed in the women's 100 meters and also bore the Chadian flag during ceremonies. The appearance of this delegation marked the tenth appearance of Chad at the Summer Olympics, the first been in 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, and its seventh appearance since its Olympic hiatus between 1976 and 1980. Both Sébergué and Ndikert ranked seventh in their respective heats and did not advance past the qualification round. As of the end of the 2012 London Olympics, there have been no medalists from Chad.
Judianne Fotheringill is an American pair skater. With brother Jerry Fotheringill, she is the 1963 and 1964 U.S. national champion. They represented the United States at the 1964 Winter Olympics where they placed 7th.

Herbert (Herb) Morris Cohen is an American Olympic foil fencer. He was a two-time NCAA foil champion, a U.S. national champion, a team Pan American Games champion, and a two-time Olympian. Later, as a coach he led New York University to an NCAA national championship.
Chad competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, which was held from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This marked the nation's eleventh appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in the 1964 Summer Olympics. The Chadian delegation included track and field athlete Hinikissia Ndikert and judoka Carine Ngarlemdana. Ngarlemdana was the flag bearer for the opening ceremony and Ndikert was the flag bearer for the closing ceremony. Neither of Chad's athletes progressed beyond the first round of their events. Chad was one of only two countries to have a female-only team at the 2012 games.

Herbert Heinrich was a German swimmer who competed in the 1928 Summer Olympics. Heinrich was considered the preeminent short distance German swimmer of the early 1920s, but because German athletes had been excluded from the Olympic Games in 1920 and 1924, prior to 1928, Heinrich was only able to compete internationally at the European Swimming Championships, first held in 1926 in Budapest.
Richard Michael McGeagh was an American competition swimmer and water polo player in his youth, and later a real estate appraiser. He was best known for swimming the backstroke leg for the U.S. team in the preliminary heats of the men's 4×100-meter medley relay at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and establishing the Olympic record for a backstroke leg. The U.S. team won its preliminary heat and also won the event final, but McGeagh did not swim in the finals and was consequently not eligible for an Olympic medal under the rules in place at the time.
Íngrid Reich Rincón is a Mexican former synchronized swimmer who competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics. She is the sister of Aline Reich.
Herbert Paul Douglas Jr. was an American athlete who competed mainly in the long jump. He was the oldest living U.S. Olympic medalist prior to his death at the age of 101.
Aída Menezes dos Santos is a Brazilian former athlete. She competed in the women's high jump at the 1964 Summer Olympics, finishing in 4th place. She reached the mark of 1,74 m.
