Herbie Hide vs. Vitali Klitschko , billed as Queen & Country, was a professional boxing match contested on 26 June 1999, for the WBO Heavyweight Championship. [1]
After stopping Tony Tucker in two round, in June 1997 to regain the WBO heavyweight belt, Herbie Hide had made two quick defences against Damon Reed and Wilhelm Fischer. He had criticized the bout between Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield being described as for undisputed championship saying to the BBC, "How can Lewis against Holyfield be for the undisputed title when my belt is not involved?", this despite the WBO being considered to be a fringe title by most in boxing, with last of the major sanctioning bodies (the IBF) recognizing them in 2007.
He had a bout with former WBA cruiserweight champion Orlin Norris scraped three times, with a Norris knee injury preventing a late 1998 date, a 13 February event was postponed on five day's notice following a skin allergy issue for Hide and finally a 3 April bout at the Royal Albert Hall was cancelled after Hide suffered an Achilles tendon injury on a training run. After recovering he agreed to face his mandatory contentor, unbeaten European champion Vitali Klitschko, while Norris would face Pele Reid on the undercard. [4] On fight night Hide was a 2/5 favourite to win with the bookmakers.
After a close first round, Klitschko knocked down Hide early in the second round. He beat the count but was floored again with another right shortly afterwards. He rose on the count of 8 but the referee waved it off, giving Klitschko a second-round KO. [5]
Klitschko would make two defences of the title before injury forced him to withdraw against late replacement Chris Byrd in April 2000. Hide would spend the next two years out of the ring before making a comeback, but his career would never reach the same heights.

He is a two-time world heavyweight champion, having held the unified WBC, IBF, IBO and lineal titles in 2001; and the WBC title again from 2005 to 2006. He was ranked as a top 10 heavyweight by BoxRec from 2000 to 2007, and reached his highest ranking of world No.6 in 2000.
Wladimir Klitschko is a Ukrainian former professional boxer who competed from 1996 to 2017. He held the world heavyweight championship twice, including the unified WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and Ring magazine titles. A strategic and intelligent boxer, Klitschko is considered to be one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time. He was known for his exceptional knockout power, using a strong jab, straight right hand and left hook, quick hand speed, great physical strength which he employed when clinching opponents, as well as athletic footwork and mobility, unusual for boxers of his size.
Christopher Cornelius Byrd is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1993 to 2009. He is a two-time world heavyweight champion, having first won the WBO title in 2000 after an upset corner stoppage over then-undefeated Vitali Klitschko. In his first title defense later that year, he lost to Vitali's brother Wladimir Klitschko. In 2002, Byrd defeated Evander Holyfield to win the IBF heavyweight title for his second reign as world champion. He made four successful defenses until losing his title again to Wladimir Klitschko in a 2006 rematch. He was ranked by BoxRec in the world's top 10 heavyweight from 1998 to 2004, reaching his highest ranking of No.3 in 2000.

Orlin Levance Norris is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1986 to 2005. He held the WBA cruiserweight title from 1993 to 1995. As an amateur, he won the National Golden Gloves title. He is the brother of retired former champion Terry Norris.
Vitali Klitschko and Wladimir Klitschko, known as the Klitschko Brothers, are Ukrainian former professional boxers. During their peak years between 2004 and 2015, they were considered the dominant world heavyweight champions of their era, and among the most successful champions in boxing history. The bout took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada, and was televised by HBO. Hide was making the first defense of the title he had won from Michael Bentt in a fight that resulted in Bentt suffering career ending injuries while Bowe was trying to find his way back into the world championship picture sixteen months after he lost his place as champion to Evander Holyfield.
