Fritz Sdunek (German pronunciation: [ˈzduːnɛk] ; 18 April 1947 – 22 December 2014) was a German professional boxing trainer and previously an amateur boxer. Regarded[ by whom? ] as one of the most successful and famous boxing trainers, he trained, among others, such world champions as Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko and Dariusz Michalczewski. He was born in Lüssow, East Germany.
Fritz Sdunek's career started in amateur boxing. Its highlight was a victory at a Students Championship of East Germany in 1968. He won 99 of his 129 amateur fights, then decided to become a trainer.
In 1979 he graduated from the Deutsche Hochschule für Körperkultur (a university) with a diploma as a sport teacher.
Since the 1960s Sdunek was a member of a sport club Traktor Schwerin , where he also worked as a trainer until 1989. There he trained among others Andreas Zülow, who won a gold medal (lightweight) at 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.
From 1994 until his death in 2014 Sdunek was active as a trainer for a famous Hamburg boxing promotion organization Universum Box-Promotion .
Fritz Sdunek was born in 1947 in post-World War II Germany, on a territory which soon became East Germany. His birthplace is the village of Lüssow near the Baltic Sea, today part of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Sdunek was married and had two children - a son and a daughter. His daughter was married to Ahmet Öner, [1] a German of Turkish descent, head of Hamburg professional promotional firm Arena Box-Promotion and ex-professional boxer.
He died in a hospital in Hamburg on 22 December 2014, at the age of 67 following a heart attack he had suffered earlier on the island of Gran Canaria. [2]

Dariusz Tomasz Michalczewski is a Polish-German professional boxer who competed from 1991 to 2005. He held multiple world championships in two weight classes, including the WBA, IBF, WBO and lineal light heavyweight titles between 1994 and 2003, and the WBO junior-heavyweight title from 1994 to 1995. Michalczewski is regarded by many as the greatest light-heavyweight boxer of all time.
Wladimir Klitschko is a Ukrainian former professional boxer who competed from 1996 to 2017. He held multiple heavyweight world championships between 2000 and 2015, including unified titles between 2008 and 2015. During this time also held the International Boxing Organization (IBO) and Ring magazine titles.
Vitalii Volodymyrovych Klychko, known as Vitali Klitschko, is a Ukrainian politician and former professional boxer. He serves as mayor of Kyiv, and is also head of the Kyiv City State Administration, having held both offices since June 2014. Klitschko is a former leader of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, and is a former member of the Ukrainian Parliament. He became actively involved in Ukrainian politics in 2005 and combined this with his professional boxing career until his retirement from the sport in 2013. He holds a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) from Kyiv University's Physical Science Department.
Lamon Tajuan Brewster is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1996 to 2010. He held the World Boxing Organization (WBO) heavyweight title from 2004 to 2006, and is best known for scoring an upset knockout victory over Wladimir Klitschko to win the vacant title. Brewster was ranked by BoxRec as the world's eighth best active heavyweight at the conclusion of 2004.
Svilen Aldinov Rusinov is a Bulgarian boxer, who twice competed at the Summer Olympics for his native country. As an amateur he won a bronze medal in the super heavyweight division at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. He also won the European Championship in 1993 and was twice runner up in the World Amateur Championships.
Alexander Viktorovych "Sascha" Dimitrenko is a Ukrainian-born German former professional boxer who competed from 2001 to 2019, and held the European heavyweight title from 2010 to 2011.
Christopher Cornelius Byrd is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1993 to 2009. He is a two-time world heavyweight champion, having first won the WBO title in 2000 after an upset corner stoppage over then-undefeated Vitali Klitschko. In his first title defense later that year, he lost to Vitali's brother Wladimir Klitschko. In 2002, Byrd defeated Evander Holyfield to win the IBF heavyweight title for his second reign as world champion. He made four successful defenses until losing his title again to Wladimir Klitschko in a 2006 rematch. He was ranked by BoxRec in the world's top 10 heavyweight from 1998 to 2004, reaching his highest ranking of No.3 in 2000.

Vitali Klitschko and Wladimir Klitschko, known as the Klitschko Brothers, are Ukrainian former professional boxers.
