Herotopia was a Flash-based MMORPG created by American developer Herotainment. Herotopia was first announced in 2010 by its creators Brian Krauss, and Wade and Caryn Temanas as a way to help children learn different ways to deal with bullies. [2] The game was re-released in 2011, with Peter Cuneo investing in the game. [3] [4] As of 2019, the game appears to be taken offline.

Premise

The game's focus deals on a group of superheroes that must deal with a gang called the Bully Bunch that is planning to play pranks such as defacing the Statue of Liberty. [5] Players create their own avatars and choose a super power that they will use throughout the game. Game play consists of the user traveling throughout the world seeking out clues and games that utilize foreign language, reading skills, and geography. [6]

Reception

The game received a positive review by Commonsensemedia, who gave it high ratings for its positive messages and easy game play. [7] Herotopia also won a Gold National Parenting Publications Awards for offering "kids a rich and engaging world for them to become their ultimate Superheroes". [8] Stripes.com also positively reviewed the game, writing that the "game play, quests and games were fun and well suited for the 6-12 age range that the developers are aiming for" but that the music was "a bit repetitive". [9]

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes was a high fantasy-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Sigil Games Online and published by Sony Online Entertainment (SOE). The game was released on January 30, 2007 and initially sold around 242,000 copies, while the number of active subscriptions was estimated to be around 130,000, to drop in the next months to about 40,000. In May 2007, Sony Online Entertainment acquired key assets from Sigil Games Online, including all rights to Vanguard.

Free Realms was a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) set in a fantasy-themed world called Sacred Grove. The game was first released on April 28, 2009 for Microsoft Windows. Versions for Mac OS X and PlayStation 3 followed in subsequent years. The game was free-to-play with leveling restrictions, with access to additional content available through a membership fee. The game allowed the player to fight, interact with other players, take up jobs, and more.

<i>Guitar Praise</i> 2008 Christian music video game

Guitar Praise is a 2008 Christian rhythm video game for PC. Published by Digital Praise, it uses contemporary Christian music with gameplay akin to that of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, although it is only compatible with its own wired and cordless USB guitar controllers. A second guitar can be connected for two-player mode. The games can be played on a computer running Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X. While the game does not contain a mode for vocals, it does display the song's lyrics on-screen during the song. It also supports online leaderboards but the website is currently down.

<i>Rift</i> (video game) 2011 video game

Rift is a fantasy free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Trion Worlds. Rift takes place within the fantasy world of Telara. Two competing factions, composed of a selection of races and classes, battle each other and the enemies who emerge from dynamic "rifts". The game was released in March 2011. A port of the game, called Rift Mobile, was released for Android on January 25, 2012.

Titan was the project name for a cancelled Blizzard Entertainment massively multiplayer online game. With speculation regarding the game beginning in 2007, Blizzard revealed little information besides that it would be completely new and not be based on the company's then-current three main franchises.
