Hi is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language romantic film written and directed by Vishnu Edavan, in his directorial debut. It is produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar under Seven Screen Studio. The film stars Nayanthara and Kavin in the lead roles, alongside Prabhu, Radhika Sarathkumar, K. Bhagyaraj and Poornima Bhagyaraj.[ citation needed ]

The film was officially announced in July 2024 under the tentative title Kavin 08, being the eighth film of the actor as a leading actor. Principal photography commenced the same month in Chennai. The official title was announced the following October. The film has music composed by Jen Martin, cinematography handled by Leon Britto and editing by Philomin Raj.[ citation needed ]

After completing her prior commitments, it was reported that Nayanthara had signed on her next project, which would feature Kavin Raj as her co-actor. Vishnu Edavan, an associate of Lokesh Kanagaraj who had worked on Master (2021) and Leo (2023), was reported to be making his directorial debut with the film. The project would reportedly be funded by S. S. Lalit Kumar's Seven Screen Studio. [1] [2] The company made a public announcement on 22 July 2024, with a promotion poster, confirming the project. [3] Vishnu selected Jen Martin to compose the music, marking their first collaboration. He further assembled cinematographer Leon Britto, editor Philomin Raj, choreographer Brinda Master, costume designer Kavya Sriram and publicity designer Sivam C. Kabilan for the technical crew. Filming

Principal photography began with an inaugural puja ceremony attended by the film's cast and crew, followed by the commencement of the first shooting schedule on 12 July 2024 in Chennai. [6] During this schedule, pictures from the set was leaked onto social media. The presence of Prabhu, Radhika Sarathkumar, K. Bhagyaraj and Poornima Bhagyaraj in the images confirmed their inclusion in the film. [7] [8] The schedule concluded by 15 September. [9] By late October, 50% of the filming had reportedly been completed. [5]

Music

In November 2024, Anirudh Ravichander was reported to compose the soundtrack of the film. [10] However, Jen Martin was later confirmed as the composer, marking his fourth collaboration with Kavin after Dada (2023), Bloody Beggar and Kiss (2025), and his first with Vishnu. [11] [12]

Release

Hi is reportedly scheduled to be released in summer (April—June) 2025. [5]
