Hisashi Wakahara (born 21 April 1945) is a Japanese equestrian. He competed in two events at the 1988 Summer Olympics. [1]

Hisashi Mizutori, is a Japanese gymnast. He was part of the Japanese team that won the gold medal in the team competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He was also part of the team to win the silver medal in the team event at the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. At that competition, he also won three individual bronze medals, winning them in the all-around, the floor exercise, and the horizontal bar. He is currently a professor at Keio University, Shonan Fujisawa Campus.

Hiroyuki Tomita is a Japanese gymnast. Tomita won three Olympic medals at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics.

Hisashi Iwakuma is a Japanese former professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes from 2000 to 2004, Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles from 2005 to 2011, and Yomiuri Giants in 2019, and all of his time in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Seattle Mariners from 2012 to 2017. Iwakuma retired in 2020 due to lingering shoulder issues that had prevented him from playing that year.

<i>Hisashi</i> (architecture)

In Japanese architecture the term hisashi (廂・庇) has two meanings:

  1. As more commonly used, the term indicates the eaves of a roof, that is, the part along the edge of a roof projecting beyond the side of the building to provide protection against the weather.
  2. The term is however also used in a more specialized sense to indicate the area surrounding the moya either completely or on one, two, or three sides.

The Japan men's national artistic gymnastics team is a sport group governed by Japan Gymnastics Association and represents Japan in international gymnastics competitions and multi-sports events. Followed the establishment of All Japan Gymnastics Federation in 1930, the team first appeared at the 1932 Summer Olympics and gradually became the major force till this day. For nearly two decades, from 1960 to 1978, Japanese men was dominant and won every gold medal at the Olympics and World Championships.
