Maria Alexandra Florea (born 11 January 1996), known professionally as Holy Molly, is a Romanian singer, songwriter and musician. She started her career in 2010 as Miss Mary, and in 2019 she reinvented herself and became Holy Molly. [1]

Life and career

1996–2007: Childhood years. The first musical activities

Maria Alexandra Florea was born on 11 January 1996 in Bucharest, Romania. She started singing as a child, under the guidance of her mother, who wanted to become a singer. [2] In 1999, she started singing in the Allegretto Children Choir of Bucharest. At the age of seven, she met her first singing teacher and began attending music competitions all over the country. She then attended the Gymnasium School of Arts no. 4 in Bucharest for piano and guitar classes. [3]

2008-2018: «Miss Mary» Period

At twelve years old, she meets Mihai Căciulă, who would become her manager. She went to a studio for the first time in 2010 and recorded “You Don’t Love Me” under the stage name of Miss Mary. [4] Shortly after, she signed with a local record label called Red Clover and released her first music video for “Open”. [5] In 2016, she started writing songs and became an independent artist. In 2017, she released “Shadows”, her first international song with “It's Different”, immediately followed by “Outlaw”. [6] During this period, she graduated from Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest, an acting speciality. [2]

2019-2021: «Holy Molly» Period

In 2019, after one year of failed attempts to work with people and create music, she released “Everybody’s Scared”, her first single as Holy Molly. [7] Her next song "Ménage À Trois" was a collaboration with the German producer Lizot. [8] On August 6, 2021, Holy Molly released a collaboration with the French-Italian duo Shanguy called “C’est La Vie.” [9]

She adopted the stage name "Alessandra" and a pop-rock style in 2008; later that year, she changed her stage name to "Inna" and began releasing house music. "Hot" (2008), her debut single, was a commercial success worldwide and topped the Romanian and Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart, among others. Her debut studio album of the same name followed in August 2009 and was certified Gold and Platinum. It featured several other successful singles in Europe, including "Amazing" (2009), the singer's second number-one single in Romania.

"10 Minutes" is a song recorded by Romanian singer Inna for her debut studio album, Hot (2009), featuring Romanian trio Play & Win. It was released as the fifth and final single from the record on 25 January 2010. Written and produced by Play & Win members Sebastian Barac, Radu Bolfea and Marcel Botezan, "10 Minutes" is a synth-pop and electropop track stylized to fit the style of music consumed in the United States. Its style was also regarded as a departure from her past work by both Inna and one critic.

The track–recorded at the Rokstone Studios–was written by Steve Mac, Yandel and Ina Wroldsen, while production was solely handled by Mac. Carla's Dreams is a music project from Moldova, formed in 2012 in Chișinău. The band is composed of an anonymous group of singers and composers who perform their songs in Romanian, English and Russian. Their lead singer, codenamed Sergiu, and his bandmates all hide their identity in public appearances by wearing hooded sweatshirts, sunglasses and a face mask made of makeup. Carla's Dreams rose to prominence in Moldova and Romania upon releasing the single "P.O.H.U.I." with Inna in 2013, and have since then issued nine singles that went on to be number-one singles in Romania.

Larisa Roxana Giurgiu, known professionally as Roxen, is a Romanian singer who rose to prominence after being featured on Romanian producer Sickotoy's "You Don't Love Me" (2019), which reached number three in Romania and received radio airplay in several other countries. The singer's following singles, "Ce-ți cântă dragostea" and "Spune-mi", eventually peaked atop the national chart. Roxen was scheduled to represent Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Alcohol You" before the event's coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related cancellation. Instead, Roxen was internally selected as the country's representative for the 2021 contest with the song "Amnesia", but failed to progress from the first semi-final, finishing in 12th place.

An EDM, Middle Eastern and Latin-influenced dance-pop release, the album was preceded by Inna's retransition to the EDM genre following the release of Yo (2019), her experimental and gypsy-inspired sixth studio album.

It was written by Inna and Minelli alongside its producers Sebastian Barac, Marcel Botezan, David Ciente and Alexandru Cotoi. On 20 January 2021, the song was serviced as the lead single of the album to Romanian radio stations. An electropop and EDM-inspired electro dance and dance-pop track, it is driven by a piano loop and slap bass. Lyrically, the song talks about a woman struggling to let go of her love interest who is far away.

"Up" is a song recorded by Romanian singer Inna. Global Records sent it to Romanian radio stations on 21 October 2021. Another version of the track with Jamaican rapper Sean Paul was issued on 17 December 2021. "Up" was written by Inna, Sebastian Barac, Marcel Botezan, Alex Cotoi and Minelli, while the production was handled by Barac, Botezan and Cotoi; Paul received additional writing and production credits on his version. "Up" is a dancehall-influenced pop song, with its lyrics describing a healing love.
