The Juno Award for "Producer of the Year" has been awarded since 1975, as recognition each year for the best record producer in Canada. It was renamed the "Jack Richardson Producer of the Year" award in 2003, after Jack Richardson who was a noted Canadian record producer.
Gene MacLellan was a Canadian singer-songwriter from Prince Edward Island. Among his compositions were "Snowbird", made famous by Anne Murray, "Put Your Hand in the Hand", "The Call", "Pages of Time" and "Thorn in My Shoe". Elvis Presley, Lynn Anderson, Loretta Lynn, Joan Baez, and Bing Crosby were among the many artists who recorded MacLellan's songs.

The late Dusty Springfield's vocal on "I Just Fall in Love Again" was lifted from Springfield's 1978 recording of the track.

As singles, "Talk it Over in the Morning" and "Cotton Jenny" were both #1 hits in the Canadian country charts. "Let Me Be the One" was released as the second single from the album in the UK with "Destiny" on the flip. It was one of Murray's few albums during this time period that did not chart in Canada. Two singles were released from the album: "The Call", which reached #19 and #6 on the U.S. country and A/C singles charts respectively, and "Sunday Sunrise", which reached #49 on the country singles charts, and #13 on the A/C singles charts. "The Call" was a rerecording of a song, which Murray had originally included on her Honey, Wheat and Laughter album in 1970. This album also has the distinction of having the great Dusty Springfield doing backup vocals.
