Honey Benjamin is the former mayor of Kollam city. She is a CPI party member and politician from Kollam city,India. She is the first CPI mayor of Kollam City Corporation. [1] [2] [3] [4] Benjamin won the election by one vote, [5] with a total of 28 votes against her opponent's 27. [6]
As mayor,Benjamin focused on issues such as waste management and the provision of electricity. [7] In January 2020,Benjamin announced a campaign to use drone-mapping to gather information about resource management in the city of Kollam. [8]
To promote shooting sports in Kollam district an indoor shooting range was opened in the city,Mayor Honey Benjamin lighted the traditional lamp. [9] Honey Benjamin presided over the inauguration of Kollam women’s police station which has become the second district in the State to have a women’s police station whereas Kannur holds the first place. Pinarayi Vijayan is an Indian politician who is the current Chief Minister of Kerala,serving since 25 May 2016. A member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist),he is the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) (1998–2015). The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission monitors the municipal elections that are held in the city once in every five years. The last elections were held on 10 March 2021.
