P. K. Hormis Tharakan, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Kerala cadre (1968 batch), was chief of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), India's external intelligence agency, from February 1, 2005 to January 31, 2007. He is the former Director General of the Kerala Police. [1]

Tharakan succeeded C. D. Sahay - a 1967 batch officer of the IPS's Karnataka cadre - on January 31, 2005.

He was one of the advisors to the governor of Karnataka, when the state was brought under the President's rule prior to Assembly elections in the state in 2008. He was a member of the National Security Council and was also the Chief Advisor of Strategic Affairs.

Tharakan comes from the Parayil family in Olavipe, Kerala.

Vikram Sood

Vikram Sood is the former head of India's foreign intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), and an advisor to the Observer Research Foundation, an independent public policy think tank in New Delhi. Sood was an officer of the Indian Postal Service (IPoS) before he joined the intelligence organisation R&AW and later served as its spymaster from 2000 to 2003. He retired as a career intelligence officer with 31 years of service on 31 March 2003. He trained under the mentorship of B. Raman and interviewed by Gentleman R.N Kao. He is the author of the book The Unending Game: A Former R&AW Chief's Insights into Espionage published in 2018, which according to Sood is not a memoir but a beginner's guide to intelligence and espionage.

Lokanath Behera EX Indian Police Service officer

He was the former Director of Vigilance in the state of Kerala, after T. P. He was Director General Central Reserve Police Force from 1 April 1988 to 30 September 1990. He was considered as honest, strict police officer who resisted pressure from politicians. He was a native of Pednem, Goa. He died on 2 January 2021 at Bengaluru at the age of 88 years.

Anil Kant is an Indian Police Service (I.P.S.) officer. He is the State Police Chief and Director General of Police (DGP) of the Kerala State Police. He was the former Road Safety Commissioner in Kerala. He is the first Dalit officer on the chief post in the police department of Kerala. Kant is from Delhi.
