Hudson Taylor was an Irish folk and Americana duo formed in 2011, who split up in 2022. The line up consisted of brothers Harry and Alfie Hudson-Taylor, who were signed to Rubyworks Records. [1]
The multi-instrumental siblings began busking on the streets of their hometown of Dublin as well as cities all over Europe. Their self-released debut EP Battles came out in August 2012 and peaked at #1 on the Irish iTunes chart and at #14 in the UK. [2] Following the success of Battles, the duo unveiled a second EP, Cinematic Lifestyle released in December 2012 and its subsequent release Osea, in October 2013. The duo supported Jake Bugg on his UK tours in March 2013 and again in the Autumn of 2014. They also played to one of their biggest crowds to date supporting The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park in 2013.[ citation needed ]
Hudson Taylor's debut album Singing for Strangers (a reference to the duo's earlier busking days) was released on major label Polydor in January 2015 to critical acclaim in Ireland and the UK. Singing for Strangers peaked at number 3 in Ireland and number 24 in the UK. [3] Their first full-length offering was produced by Iain Archer, Grammy nominated singer-songwriter and producer who has songwriting credits for Jake Bugg, James Bay and Niall Horan. [4] Singing for Strangers included hugely successful singles 'Chasing Rubies' and 'Battles'. Speaking of their influences when writing the 18 track album, the duo referenced Crosby, Stills & Nash and Simon & Garfunkel. [5]
Following the group's departure from Polydor in February 2016, Hudson Taylor were signed to indie label Rubyworks Records in Ireland. [6] [7]
At the beginning of 2018, Hudson Taylor embarked on a European tour playing in the UK, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Netherlands. At the end of January, they announced they would be opening for Gabrielle Aplin throughout her North American Tour. [8] During their trip they made their US TV debut on Good Day New York on Fox and WGN-TV in Chicago. They also completed high-profile online sessions for Paste Magazine, Baeble Music and BalconyTV in LA.
In March 2018 the duo released the Feel It Again EP and amassed over 1.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify. It was produced by Ryan Hadlock, best known for his work with The Lumineers and Vance Joy, and mixed by Ruadhri Cushnan (Mumford & Sons, Ed Sheeran) in Dublin. Their lead-off single 'Feel It Again' was one of the biggest Irish airplay hits of 2017. With streaming figures well in excess of 10 million listens for the Feel It Again EP and tracks ‘Run With Me’ and ‘Old Soul’ finding favour at radio and digital platforms, Hudson Taylor wrapped the Irish tour with a sold out, home town show at Olympia Theatre, Dublin, which was recorded for future release.
Debuted on 21 September 2018, Hudson Taylor revealed their latest offering, a mini-album entitled Bear Creek to Dame Street. Four individual singles were released in the buildup to the mini-album including 'You Don't Wanna Know' and 'One in a Million' at the end of August, followed by 'I Love You and You Don't Even Know' and 'Shot Someone'. The band described their mini-album as a collection of new songs recorded at Bear Creek Studio by Ryan Hadlock along with "some old favourites recorded from our Dublin Olympia Theatre show." [9]
Following the release, Hudson Taylor supported Hozier during his North American tour, opening 19 shows including 3 nights at both Beacon Theatre in New York City and Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. [10] In between shows with Hozier, Hudson Taylor also played their own headline shows in New York, Washington DC and Boston at the end of September. [11]
In November 2018, Hudson Taylor began their second European tour of the year including a headline show in KOKO in London, finishing with a 6 night home-coming run in Whelan's in Dublin in December.
In January and February 2019, they played a U.S. headline tour [12] accompanied by Oisin and Tadgh Walsh-Peelo in their band.
In May and June 2019, the Hudson Taylor supported Rodrigo y Gabriela on their North American tour and played a number of shows while in the states.
After a period of quiet, the two brothers released the single "Won't Be Too Long" on 14 January 2022. [13] [14]
In October 2023, Harry announced on Instagram that the duo had split the previous year.
Following the breakup of the band, Harry went on to release music as a solo musician under the alias of Lady Bird Lad. [15] Alfie started a podcast called How To Break An Artist, delving into his experience in the music industry. [16]

Eurythmics were a British pop duo formed in 1980, consisting of Scottish vocalist Annie Lennox and English musician and producer Dave Stewart. They were both previously in the Tourists, a band that broke up in 1980. They released their first studio album, In the Garden, in 1981 to little success, but achieved global acclaim with their second album, Sweet Dreams (1983). The title track became a worldwide hit, reaching number two in the UK Singles Chart, and number one in Canada and the US Billboard Hot 100. Eurythmics went on to release a string of hit singles and albums, including "Love Is a Stranger", "There Must Be an Angel " and "Here Comes the Rain Again", before splitting in 1990.

Benjamin Hudson McIldowie, better known by his stage name Mr Hudson, is an English singer, songwriter, and record producer from Birmingham, England. He performed as the lead singer of the band Mr Hudson and the Library in 2006, and signed with American rapper Kanye West's record label GOOD Music through a joint venture with Mercury Records two years later. He rose to prominence as a guest vocalist on West's 2009 single "Paranoid" from his album 808s & Heartbreak (2008). Furthermore, he co-wrote the songs "Say You Will" and "Street Lights" also from the album. That same year, Hudson guest performed on Jay-Z's 2009 single "Young Forever," which peaked within the top ten of both the US Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart. His debut studio album, Straight No Chaser (2009) entered the UK Albums Chart at number 25; its single, "Supernova" peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart.
The Script are an Irish rock band formed in 2001 in Dublin, by lead vocalist, keyboardist, and guitarist Danny O'Donoghue, lead guitarist Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power. The band moved to London after signing to Sony Label Group imprint Phonogenic and released their first album The Script in August 2008, preceded by the debut single "We Cry" as well as other singles such as "The Man Who Can't Be Moved", "Breakeven" and "Before the Worst". The album peaked at number one in both Ireland and the UK. Their next three albums, Science & Faith (2010), #3 (2012) and No Sound Without Silence (2014), all topped the album charts in Ireland and the UK, while Science & Faith reached number two in Australia and number three in the United States. Some of the hit singles from the albums include "For the First Time", "Nothing", "Hall of Fame" and "Superheroes". The band's fifth studio album, Freedom Child, was released on 1 September 2017, and features the UK Top 20 single "Rain". Their sixth studio album, Sunsets & Full Moons, was released on 8 November 2019, and features the single "The Last Time". A Greatest Hits album was released on 1 October 2021.
Úna Palliser is an Irish born, London-based violinist, violist, singer and multi-instrumentalist who as well as being classically trained, is recognised for her proficiency in many musical genres, including rock, jazz, Balkan and Irish folk. She has collaborated as guest soloist with London Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and many high profile artists including Shakira, A. R. Rahman, Leona Lewis, Terrafolk and Otis Taylor and as the Irish folk singer on several film and television soundtracks, including Mo Ghile Mear on the Specsavers 'Collie Wobble' advertisement. Gabrielle Ann Aplin is an English singer-songwriter. After amassing a following for her acoustic music covers on YouTube, Aplin signed a recording deal with Parlophone in February 2012. She rose to prominence the following November when she was selected to record the soundtrack for a John Lewis television commercial with a cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "The Power of Love", which went on to top the UK Singles Chart.

Andrew John Hozier-Byrne, known professionally as Hozier, is an Irish musician, singer and songwriter. His music primarily draws from folk, soul and blues, often using religious and literary themes and taking political or social justice stances.
George Ezra Barnett is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. After releasing two EPs, Did You Hear the Rain? (2013) and Cassy O' (2014), Ezra rose to prominence with the release of his hit single "Budapest", which reached number one in several countries. His debut studio album, Wanted on Voyage, was released in June 2014, reaching number one in the UK and the top ten in seven other countries. It was also the third-best-selling album of 2014 in the UK.
"Take Me to Church" is a song by Irish singer-songwriter Hozier. It was released as his debut single on 13 September 2013, originally featuring on his extended play of the same name, before being featured as the opening track of his 2014 debut album Hozier. A struggling musician at the time of its composition, Hozier wrote and recorded the song in the attic of his parents' home in County Wicklow. A mid-tempo soul song, its lyrics use religious terminology to describe a romantic relationship in the face of Church discrimination. The song caught the attention of Rubyworks Records, where producer Rob Kirwan collaborated with Hozier on the final recording.
Hozier is the debut studio album by Irish musician Hozier. It was released on 19 September 2014 by Island Records and Rubyworks Records. Maddie & Tae are an American female country music duo composed of Maddie Font and Tae Kerr, both of whom are singers, songwriters, and guitarists. The duo was signed to the revived Dot Records in 2014. Their debut album, Start Here, was released on August 28, 2015, and includes the singles "Girl in a Country Song", "Fly", "Shut Up and Fish", and "Sierra". Following the closure of Dot, they signed to Mercury Nashville in 2018. James Michael Bay is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. In 2014, he released his single "Hold Back the River", which was certified platinum, before releasing his debut studio album Chaos and the Calm (2015). The album went to number one in the UK and number 15 in the US. In February 2015, Bay received the Brit Awards "Critics' Choice" award. At the 2016 Brit Awards he received the award for Best British Male Solo Artist. Bay also received three nominations at the 2016 Grammy Awards, for Best New Artist, Best Rock Album, and Best Rock Song. In May 2018, he released his second studio album, Electric Light.
"From Eden" is a song recorded by Irish singer-songwriter Hozier for his 2014 eponymous debut studio album. It was released on 9 March 2014 as the second single from the record and peaked at number two on the Irish Singles Chart and number fifteen on the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. An accompanying music video was released in November 2014, featuring actress Katie McGrath.
