Huzaifa Aamir Rashadi is an Indian politician [1] and student leader based in Aligarh and Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. [2] Huzaifa Rashadi is the Honorary Secretary of the Aligarh Muslim University Students' Union and also the son of Maulana Aamir Rashadi Madni. He holds a degree of MA from Aligarh Muslim University. [3] Huzaifa Aamir is better known for Voice of Dissent, Students Issues Politics and for protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 and National Register of Citizenship and also for activism for the rights of students From Aligarh. Huzaifa Rashadi recently fought the assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh 2022 from his hometown Didarganj Assembly constituency Azamgarh district

Early life and education

Huzaifa was born in Azamgarh, in 1996. He has completed his primary education from Rashad Moral School, Jamiatur Rashad Azamgarh. He attended Children Senior Secondary School +2, Azamgarh. Huzaifa participated in state level debates, science exhibitions, singing and co-curricular activities while at school. He was also the school captain in cricket.

He then pursued BSc (Bachelor of Science) in Geology and MA LAMM (Language of Advertising Media Marketing) from Aligarh Muslim University.

Political career

In November 2018, Huzaifa Aamir Rashadi [4] was elected as an Honorary Secretary [5] of the Aligarh Muslim University Students' Union by huge margin. [6] Huzaifa Rashadi recently[ when? ] fought the assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh 2022 from his hometown Didarganj Assembly constituency Azamgarh district.[ citation needed ]

Jailed For Dissent

In August 2019, Huzaifa came into the limelight when he was arrested [7] from AMU for protesting against VC [8] and Registrar for the Issues of the Students of Aligarh Muslim University. [9] For two months they were protesting for the revoking of the Debarred Students of AMU. [10] [11] [12] He was expelled from AMU for 5 years. [13]

Anti CAA Movement

In 2019, during the Anti-CAA protests he started campaigning against CAA-NRC, the 2019 amendment in Indian Citizenship Act. [14]

Filmsaaz is an international short film festival began in 2008 by the University Film Club, Aligarh Muslim University. Until the fifth edition of the festival in 2012, it was a national-level competition, but beginning with the sixth edition in 2013, the festival was opened to international entries. Since its inception, the University's Kennedy Auditorium has been used as the festival's screening venue.

Siddons Union Club, commonly referred to as 'The Siddons Union', was established in the year 1884 at Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College, the present day Aligarh Muslim University. The club was named after Henry George Impey Siddons, the first principal of the college. the Siddons Debating Union Hall, the debating chamber, was constructed which consist of a debating hall, a library and a reading room. The Cambridge Union Society gave birth to debating societies of the prominent universities of the world namely Oxford Union, Yale Political Union. Siddons Union Club hosted a number of National and International Politicians, Writers, Nobel Laureates, Players, and Journalists, including the Dalai Lama, Mahatma Gandhi, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Jawahar Lal Nehru.

On 23 April 2016, clashes between two regional student groups resulted in on-campus violence at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). After a former student's death in the conflict, the state government was prompted to elevate the security and deploy Rapid Action Force.

The Aligarh Muslim University Students' Union (AMUSU) is the official Students' Union of the Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. The Aligarh Muslim University Students' Union is the university-wide representative body for students and is autonomous in nature. It works according to their own Constitution written by Amin A. Bulbuliya. It is primarily responsible for building and preserving a healthy political culture and an atmosphere of open debates on the campus. Students are kept informed about the public meetings, discussions and other issues through pamphlets and notices.

Bhadon is a village and Gram Panchayat located in Martinganj tehsil of the Azamgarh District in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, near the border with Jaunpur District. It is 37.7 kilometres (23.4 mi) north-east of the district headquarters in Azamgarh and 229.9 kilometres (142.9 mi) from the state capital of Lucknow.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 was passed by the Parliament of India on 11 December 2019. It amended the Citizenship Act, 1955 by providing a pathway to Indian citizenship for persecuted religious minorities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan who are Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis or Christians, and arrived in India before the end of December 2014. The law does not grant such eligibility to Muslims from these countries. The act was the first time that religion had been overtly used as a criterion for citizenship under Indian law and attracted global criticism.

The Law Society is a body of students from Aligarh Muslim University's faculty of law. The body has produced lawyers, judges and politicians. It is an educational and representative body with an estimated 1000 active members. It is involved in training and preparing students for various competitive activities like Moot Court, Legal debate, Quiz, Judgment writing etc. of the Faculty. It was founded in 1894 as a non-profit student organization. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Citizenship Amendment Act protests</span> 2019–2020 protests in India

The Citizenship Amendment Act (Bill) protests, also known as the CAA Protest, CAB Protest or CAA and NRC protests, occurred after the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was enacted by the Government of India on 12 December 2019. The move sparked a widespread national and overseas ongoing protests against the act and its associated proposals of the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The protests first began in Assam and spread swiftly in other states such as Delhi, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura on 4 December 2019. Protests broke out rapidly across the country, although the concerns of the protesters vary.

CAA protests in Uttar Pradesh was a protest that began in response to the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in both houses of Parliament on 11 December 2019. and the police intervention against students at Jamia Millia Islamia who were opposing law which gives priority to Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians resident in India before 2014, but excludes Muslims, including minority sects. The student activists were also demanding complete roll back of CAA.
