History

2009 Parliamentary Elections

RUC participated in the 2009 parliamentary elections on five seats. As expected RUC never won any seats. However, they secured approximately 2.25 lakh (225,000) votes, unusually successful for a party that was only five months old. It did not ally with other parties. [1]

2012 UP Assembly Election

RUC participated in the Uttar Pradesh 2012 Assembly election, contesting 100 seats out of 401. As expected, the RUC did not win any seats, but they secured nearly 6 lakh (600,000) votes. [2]

2014 Parliamentary Elections

RUC participated in the 2014 elections on a very few seats only citing the reason that they want to stop the fascist forces from coming in to power. The national president of the party Maulana Aamir Rashadi contested election [3] against SP Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav from Azamgarh and this created a lot of headlines. [4] [5]

2017 UP Assembly Elections

RUC had declared 84 candidates [6] but just before 1 month from the elections in a shocking turn of events RUC decided to support BSP [7] to keep away SP [8] and BJP [9] from power and supported the BSP candidates in the elections on rest of the seats. [10]

2022 UP Assembly Elections

The Peace Party of India and the Rashtriya Ulama Council (RUC) on announced they would contest the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections together under the banner of United Democratic Alliance.

Akhilesh Yadav is an Indian politician and national president of the Samajwadi Party who served as the 20th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Having assumed the chief minister's office on 15 March 2012 at the age of 38, he is the youngest person to have held the office till date. Dharam Pal Yadav, also known as D. P. Yadav, was an Indian politician and a former cabinet minister in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. He belongs to Sarfabad village of Noida in Gautam Buddha Nagar district. D. P. Yadav has served 4 times as MLA. He was also a Member of Parliament (MP) in Lok Sabha and MP in Rajya Sabha.

The 2009 Indian general election in Uttar Pradesh were held for 80 seats with the state going to polls across all the five phases of the general elections. The major contenders in the state were the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Indian National Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Fourth Front. NDA consisted of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal whereas the fourth front was constituted of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).

The Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly election followed as a result the expiration of the five-year term of the previous legislature elected in Uttar Pradesh, India. The election to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly was held in seven phases from 8 February through 3 March 2012. Uttar Pradesh has the world's largest population for a sub-national democracy. The incumbent chief minister Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party, which previously won an absolute majority of seats, was defeated by Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party, which gained an absolute majority in the election. Mulayam's son and Samajwadi party president Akhilesh Yadav was nominated as chief minister by the party.

He is also the founder and national president of a political party Rashtriya Ulama Council (RUC) which has a strong hold specially in Uttar Pradesh and is working in 14 other states of India like Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu. The party has participated in general and assembly elections in many of these states.

Mulayam Singh Yadav was an Indian politician, a socialist figure and founder of the Samajwadi Party. Over the course of his political career spanning more than six decades, he served for three terms as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and also as the Union Minister of Defence in the Government of India. A long-time parliamentarian, he was a seven-time Member of Parliament representing Mainpuri, Azamgarh, Sambhal and Kannauj constituencies in the Lok Sabha, a ten-time member of the Legislative Assembly, member of the Legislative Council and the Leader of Opposition for several times as well. The veteran politician was a prominent figure of his time in Indian politics, and was often referred to as Netaji and Dhartiputra by party leaders and workers. In 2023, the socialist leader was posthumously conferred with Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award by the Government of India.

Swami Prasad Maurya is an Indian politician and was a member of the 17th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh of India. He represented the Padrauna constituency of Uttar Pradesh. Maurya has been a Member of the legislative assembly for five terms, has been a minister in the government of Uttar Pradesh, Leader of the house, and Leader of the opposition. He was serving as Cabinet Minister for Labour, Employment and Co-ordination in Yogi Adityanath ministry. Until 2021, he was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party which he joined after a long stint with Bahujan Samaj Party.

Bukkal Nawab is an Indian Politician from the BJP and an ex-senior leader of the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. Nawab was a close associate of the Samajwadi Party patron Mulayam Singh Yadav, but he joined BJP and is now considered close to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He belongs to a prominent Nawab family while his ancestors served as the heads in the Royal Kingdom of Awadh. His father Dara Nawab served as an Aviator under the Indian Government. Nawab started his political career in 1989 when he emerged victorious as an independent candidate from the Daulatganj ward in the Lucknow Nagar Nigam elections and topped the state on the basis of highest marginal win.
