Vikassheel Insaan Party is an Indian political party, formally launched on 4 November 2018, by a Bollywood set designer Mukesh Sahani, who campaigned for the Bharatiya Janata Party during the 2015 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. They contested in three Lok Sabha constituencies in 2019 from Madhubani, Muzaffarpur and Khagaria but failed to win any seats. The support base for the party consists mainly of the Nishad, Nonia, Bind, Beldar community, which comprises 20 sub-castes of fisherman and boatmen. Vikassheel Insaan Party was initially aligned to the Mahagathbandhan but amidst confusion in seat sharing due to regressive stance taken by Rashtriya Janata Dal to not give required importance to its small allies, Mukesh Sahani walked out of the alliance. He was welcomed by National Democratic Alliance, and was given a total of 11 seats to contest in Bihar. [8] The party was successful, and though Sahani himself lost the election, [9] his party won four seats. [10]
Mukesh Sahani was later elected to Bihar Legislative Council but not on a six-year term but instead a one and a half year term which expired in July 2022. [11]
Mukesh Sahani, the President of the party decided to run against his ally party BJP in the Uttar Pradesh 2022 Legislative Assembly elections and said he would field 160 candidates, [12] he said that his main goal was to "oust the (incumbent) BJP government." [13] He proceeded to field 55 candidates against his ally in Bihar, however none of them were able to win. Following the party's loss in the Uttar Pradesh Elections, a BJP MLA said that his chapter is over in Bihar politics and he should be ousted as the minister and also hinted a coup against him in the party. [14] Sahani then proceeded to ignore NDA seat distribution for Bihar Legislative Council elections and again fielded seven candidates against BJP. [15]
On 23 March 2022, all three MLAs of the party defected into BJP, leaving the party with no MLAs. [16]

Upendra Kumar Singh, commonly known as Upendra Kushwaha is an Indian politician, and a former Member of Bihar Legislative Council and Bihar Legislative Assembly. He has also served as Minister of State for Human Resources and Development in the Government of India. Kushwaha is a former Member of Parliament (MP) from the Karakat constituency in Rohtas district, Bihar, and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. He was the leader of Rashtriya Samata Party (RSP), his own party, which merged into Janata Dal (United) (JDU) in 2009. Later, he formed Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP), which also merged with JD(U) in 2021. On 20 February 2023, Kushwaha resigned from all positions in Janata Dal (United) and formed his own party called Rashtriya Lok Morcha due to his political problems with JD(U) and Nitish Kumar. Kushwaha contested the Lok Sabha election of 2024 from Karakat constituency and finished at a distant third position. However, he was elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha in August 2024.

The Luv-Kush equation is a political term used in the context of the politics of Bihar, to denote the alliance of the agricultural Kurmi and the Koeri caste, which was assumed to be approximately 15% of the state's population The alliance of these two caste groups has remained the support base of Nitish Kumar, as against the MY equation of Lalu Prasad Yadav, which constitutes Muslims and the Yadavs. Caste consciousness and the quest for political representation largely drive the politics of Bihar. The political alliance of the Koeri and the Kurmi castes, termed the "Luv-Kush equation" was formed when a massive Kurmi Chetna Rally was organised by members of the Kurmi community in 1994 against the alleged casteist politics of Lalu Yadav, who was blamed by contemporary community leaders for promoting Yadavs in politics and administration.
The 2024 Indian general election was held in Bihar in all 7 phases from 19 April to 1 June to elect 40 members of the 18th Lok Sabha, with the results declared on 4 June.
Amar Kumar Paswan is an Indian politician. He serves as Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Bochahan Assembly constituency. Paswan was elected to the assembly in April 2022. He is representing the Rashtriya Janata Dal of Lalu Prasad Yadav. His father, Musafir Paswan, was sitting MLA when he died in 2021, representing the Vikassheel Insaan Party.
