Nirbal Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal is a political party in India. It was founded in 2016. The Nishad Party was formed for empowerment of Nishad, Kewats, Bind, Beldar, Mallah, Sahani, Kashyap, Gond communities whose traditional occupations centred on rivers, such as boatmen or fishermen. Its founder is Sanjay Nishad, a former member of the Bahujan Samaj Party. According to Nishad, a separate party representing these communities was essential as they had played an integral role in the victories of BSP and Samajwadi Party. [1] [2] [3] [4]
The Nishad Party ran 100 candidates in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election in alliance with Peace Party of India, the Apna Dal and the Jan Adhikar Party. [2] In the election swept by the BJP, the NISHAD party won only the Gyanpur constituency. [5] Party leader Sanjay Nishad came third in Gorakhpur Rural polling 35,000 votes. [6]
For the 2018 by-elections to Phulpur and Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seats, Samajwadi Party united with several smaller parties, including Nishad Party, to extend its social base beyond Yadavs and Muslims. Sanjay Nishad's son, Praveen Kumar Nishad was selected as the Samajwadi candidate in Gorakhpur, where the Nishad community is the second-largest demographic group. [6] [7] In a major upset, Praveen Nishad wrested the seat from BJP, which had not lost the seat since 1989. The victory margin was 21,000 votes. [8]
In the recently concluded 2022 UP State Election, Nishad party fought in alliance with BJP and won 6 seats. [9] [10]

Vijay Kumar Mishra is an Indian politician who, as of 2017, represents the Gyanpur constituency in the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh. As a member of the Nishad party, he won the seat in the 2017 state assembly elections. In March 2018, he was expelled from that party, despite being its only Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), when he supported a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in elections to the Rajya Sabha. The party allied with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and had ordered him to support the BSP candidate, Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Mishra is currently contesting assembly elections of 2022 from Gyanpur constituency, he is holding election symbol "Helicopter" high to register his victory in 2022 elections. Notable point is Vijay Mishra is contesting from Pragatisheel Manav Samaj Party in 2022 assembly elections. But he lost this election badly, he remained in third position. Mishra is being detained by UP Police under charges of extortion and land-grabbing and trespassing. Mishra had been a member of the Samajwadi Party (SP), for whom he successfully contested in the 2002, 2007 and 2012 assembly elections. Described in 2007 by the Hindustan Times as a "mafia", he had at that time over 30 pending criminal cases lodged against him. He contested the 2012 election while in jail in relation to an alleged involvement in the 2010 bomb attack on Nand Gopal Gupta, who was minister of state at that time (2010) and was chosen as cabinet minister in Yogi Adityanath's government.. Denying the charges as being politically motivated, he was released on bail later in the year, by which time 62 criminal cases were recorded against him. His family had anticipated his release would occur if the SP were returned to government.

The election results were declared on 13 May in which the national parties the BJP and the Congress performed quite badly while the state parties, SP and BSP did very well and fetched majority of the seats. Early polls called by the BJP proved disastrous for the party, although Congress managed to win and form the government at the center.
