Nick Levine of Digital Spy gave the song a positive review stating writing that Gardner's voice is "rich, manly and blessed with an intriguing hint of huskiness to it." The tune was described as "a glossy-yet-gloomy electropop affair, and very much a grower not a shower." [2]
Fraser McAlpine of BBC Chart Blog described the song as pleasant though unmemorable background music that is "neither so offensively irksome to my refined palate that I'm tempted to smash the speakers, or so astonishingly mind-sparklingly brilliant that my productivity shoots through the floor." He follows on to criticize the repetitive nature of the whole affair with "After the first minute or so, nothing happens. We just go round and around on the same eight bar of well-mannered, polite synthpop. Oh sure, there's a breakdown section, but it's not particularly arresting and comes across as a transparent attempt to break things up and then drum up some interest in the return of that bassline again" [1]
Mirroring the single cover, the video shows Gardner singing while sitting and walking in a room full of mirrors, while finding a girl walking alone.

"Oopsy Daisy" is a song by British rapper Chipmunk. It features uncredited vocals by R&B singer Dayo Olatunji, who performs the bridge and chorus. The song was produced by the pop production duo Kyle James & Parker Ighile, who co-wrote the top line alongside Talay Riley. The song was officially released on 4 October 2009. An official remix has been made with Boy Better Know.
"Earthquake" is a song by English recording artist Little Boots from her debut studio album, Hands (2009). Written by Boots and Greg Kurstin and produced by Kurstin, the song was released in the United Kingdom on 16 November 2009 as the album's third and final single. It debuted at number eighty-four on the UK Singles Chart, dropping off the chart the following week.
"You and I" is a song by Danish electropop singer Medina. It was released in the United Kingdom on 21 September 2009 and in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on 3 May 2010. Originally written by Medina, Jeppe Federspiel and Rasmus Stabell it was translated into English by Adam Powers and Julie Steincke, and released as Medina's debut single from her international studio album, Welcome to Medina.
"Winter Winds" is the second single by the London folk quartet Mumford & Sons, released from their debut album, Sigh No More. It was released in the UK on 6 December 2009, where it peaked at number 44; in Belgium it reached number 29.
"Many of Horror" is an alternative rock song by Scottish band Biffy Clyro for their fifth studio album Only Revolutions. The song was released as the fourth single from the album on 18 January 2010. The song was recorded at Ocean Way Recording, Hollywood, California and mastered at Masterdisk. The lyrics of the song concern Neil's wife and family. Jacknife Lee, who previously remixed "Silhouettes" for the Biffy Clyro and Sucioperro side project Marmaduke Duke, recorded a remix for the song.
"Never Be Your Woman" is a song recorded by British record producer Naughty Boy, featuring lead vocals from British rapper Wiley and British singer and songwriter Emeli Sandé. It was released on 28 February 2010 by Relentless Records and samples White Town's 1997 number-one single "Your Woman", which in turn features a trumpet line taken from the 1932 recording "My Woman" by Lew Stone & his Monseigneur Band. "Never Be Your Woman" is included as a bonus track on Naughty Boy's debut album, Hotel Cabana (2013).
"Acapella" is a song by American singer Kelis from her fifth studio album, Flesh Tone (2010). The song is a departure from her past singles in that it is a dance/electronic track rather than hip hop/R&B-oriented. The song was first premiered on her Twitter page and her official website in November 2009, and was released on February 23, 2010, as the lead single from the album.
"My Name" is a song by British singer McLean. It was released on 8 March 2010 on CD and 5 March 2010 on digital download. The track has been remixed by many other British artists. It is thought that the producer of the song is Fraser T Smith, but was also originally produced by Slick and Magic in London. The song was completed in Los Angeles by Dylan "3D" Dresdow, the mix engineer that also mixed The Black Eyed Peas hit singles off their latest album, The E.N.D.. Singer Iyaz produced a song named 'So Big' that has the same melody.
"Ridin' Solo" is the third single from Jason Derulo's self-titled debut album, produced by J.R. Rotem. The demo originally sampled "Bitter Sweet Symphony" by the Verve, but the sample was not cleared and was subsequently replaced with electronic motifs which are featured throughout the entire song.
Alex Gardner, better known by his stage name, A-L-X is a Scottish pop singer. He released two singles in 2010 as Alex Gardner, "I'm Not Mad" and "Feeling Fine", before changing his stage name to A-L-X and releasing his third single, "Beautiful Criminal", in 2014.

"The Boy Who Murdered Love" is a song by English singer and songwriter Diana Vickers from her debut studio album, Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree (2010). It was written by Vickers and the song's producer Chris Braide. The song was released as the album's second and final single as a digital download on 18 July 2010 with the CD single released the next day. A demo of the song has surfaced online after accidentally being uploaded to Vickers's Myspace page where it remains.
"We Dance On" is a song performed by British hip hop group N-Dubz, released as the group's eleventh overall single and the lead single from their third studio album, Love.Live.Life. The song was also the second single released from the soundtrack to the film StreetDance 3D. The song features English house music duo Bodyrox. The song was co-written and co-produced by the members of N-Dubz and Bodyrox. Additional vocals are provided by British recording artists Luciana and Nick Clow, both artists have also been credited as being involved in co-writing the song.
"Truth" is the second single released from American band Chiddy Bang. It was released in the United Kingdom on 17 May 2010 as a Digital Download and the CD Single was released the next day. The single samples Passion Pit's "Better Things" from the Chunk of Change EP that was released in 2008.
"Drummer Boy" is song by English singer-songwriter Alesha Dixon. It was released on 3 September 2010 as the lead single from her third studio album, The Entertainer. The first teasers for the song surfaced on Dixon's fansite in late July, and Dixon announced, via her various social networking sites, that the song would receive its radio play premiere on 23 July on BBC Radio 1 with Fearne Cotton. "Drummer Boy" debuted on the Irish Singles Chart at number twenty-three on 10 September 2010. The single peaked at Number 15 on the UK Singles Chart, making it Dixon's lowest peaking lead single from an album to date.
"4th of July (Fireworks)" is the second single from Kelis' fifth studio album, Flesh Tone. It samples "You're My Heart (Pilotpriest Remix)" by Lioness. The song was listed at number 51 on the list of the NME Best Tracks of 2010. Three different art works have been made for the single, one for the CD single and digital EP releases in the United Kingdom, the digital remixes single in the United States and the international single.
"All Time Low" is the debut single of British-Irish boy band the Wanted, written by Steve Mac, Wayne Hector and Ed Drewett. It was released on 25 July 2010 as the debut single from their self-titled debut album The Wanted, via Geffen Records. The song peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart and number 19 in Ireland. "All Time Low" is upbeat with prominent dance-pop musical characteristics. It has so far garnered a positive response from contemporary music critics.
"Last Ones Standing" is a song by British recording artist Example. This is the fourth single from Example's second album, Won't Go Quietly. The song was available to download on 12 September 2010, with a physical single release on 13 September 2010. Production was handled by Bjorn Yttling of Swedish rock band, Peter Bjorn and John.
"Monster" is a song by British rapper Professor Green. This is the third single from his second album, Alive Till I'm Dead, featuring uncredited vocals from British singer and rapper Example. It was released on 1 October 2010 by digital download and on 4 October 2010 by CD single. The song was added to the BBC Radio 1 A-List.
