"I'm on My Way" is a song by Scottish folk pop duo the Proclaimers from their 1988 album Sunshine on Leith . It was released as a single in 1989 and reached number 43 in the United Kingdom and number three in Australia. The lyrics "I'm on my way from misery to happiness today" differ from "I'm on My Way", the spiritual of the same name.
The song was promoted to US Pop radio stations in September 1993 after "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" achieved success there following its inclusion on the soundtrack of Benny & Joon ; "I'm Gonna Be" had originally peaked at number 23 on the US Modern Rock chart in March 1989. "I'm On My Way" failed to chart, despite gaining airplay on twelve US pop radio stations. [2]
The song was used on the soundtrack of the animated film Shrek , which was released in 2001. [3] It was also used as the theme music of the BBC Radio Four comedy series The Maltby Collection . [4] An instrumental version was briefly used on Are We There Yet? , which was released in 2005. [5]
In keeping with the group's support of Scottish football club Hibernian, "I'm on My Way" was played at Hampden Park immediately after Hibernian's victory in the 2007 Scottish League Cup Final.
Kikki Danielsson covered the song with lyrics in Swedish written by Ulf Söderberg. This version was named Jag är på väg and is on her album Canzone d'Amore (1989), [6] and her compilation album I dag & i morgon (2006).
Scottish trials cyclist Danny MacAskill used the song as the soundtrack for his 2020 cycling stunt video, Danny MacAskill's Gymnasium. [7] [8] "I'm on My Way" was included as the outro song on the Canadian television show Mr. D on the eleventh and final episode of the seventh season.[ citation needed ]

The Proclaimers are a Scottish rock duo formed in 1983 by twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid. They came to attention with their 1987 single "Letter from America", which reached No. 3 in the United Kingdom, and the 1988 single "I'm Gonna Be ", which topped charts in Australia, Iceland and New Zealand. The duo's biggest album, Sunshine on Leith (1988) has been certified multi-Platinum in Australia and Canada, selling over 2 million copies worldwide, including around 700,000 in the United States. The Proclaimers have sold over 5 million albums worldwide.

Wizex is a Swedish dansband formed in Osby in 1973. It purchased the rights to the name from a band that started as Ulrik Wittmans Kvintett in 1957. When Ulrik Wittman left the band in 1963 they started to use the name Wizex. When read out the name sounds like "The Six of Us", "vi sex", in Swedish, and it was six persons left in the band when they changed the name. Today's band had six founders and was allowed to purchase the name, and hence use 1973 as the starting point.

The song was originally performed by Kikki Danielsson at Melodifestivalen 2006, where it made it from the semifinal in Karlstad on 25 February directly to the final inside the Stockholm Globe Arena on 18 March, where it ended up 10th. Kikki Danielsson also recorded the song for the 2006 album with the same name.
