IFIS is an academic publishing company and not-for-profit organisation operating in the sciences of food and health. [1]

Contents

Based in Reading, IFIS produces the online bibliographic database, FSTA, a resource which the company has offered since 1969. FSTA (Food Science and Technology Abstracts) includes over 2 million scientific non-predatory records from trusted sources, all related to disciplines surrounding food and beverages.

As a not-for-profit organisation and educational charity, IFIS:

IFIS work with a global network of regulatory experts in their Meet the Partners tool, [5] and they produce Escalex Limits News and Alerts, a curated news and alerts service for legal developments in food. [6]

IFIS also produces, in association with Wiley Blackwell, the Dictionary of Food Science & Technology, now in its second edition. [7]

History

Originally known as the International Food Information Service, IFIS was established in 1968 by the collaboration of four organisations: [8]

The company was originally based at Lane End House in Shinfield, and moved to The Granary on Bridge Farm in Arborfield. Having moved in June 2020, they are now based in Winnersh Triangle, Berkshire, UK.

FSTA – Food Science and Technology Abstracts

FSTA is a bibliographic abstracting and indexing (A&I) database for scientific and technological information relating to food, beverages, and nutrition. It contains over 1.5 million indexed records, with full-text links where available, covering over 5,475 active and historical journals, books, trade publications, reviews, conference proceedings, reports, patents, and standards.

The database is updated weekly with all records indexed against IFIS' thesaurus, containing over 13,000 food science keywords, curated and structured into hierarchies. The resource is used by researchers, industry practitioners, and students, [9] and it contains information sources in 29 languages, sourced from publishers in over 60 countries.

Coverage includes all major commodities in the food and beverage industry, related applied and pure sciences, pet foods, food psychology, food economics, food safety, and more. [10]

FSTA can be accessed through EBSCOhost, [11] Ovid, [12] Proquest Dialog, [13] STN [14] and Web of Science. [15]

Launched in February 2022, was the FSTA database - with new full-text capability. FSTA with Full Text is produced in collaboration with EBSCO and is available exclusively on the EBSCO platform. Allowing users to quickly discover authoritative, food-focused research. Topics include::

The journal publishes original research and rapid communications, as well as book reviews and announcements of the association. Occasional special issues appear with contents focused on a single topic area.

The Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis (JABA) is a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal which publishes empirical research related to applied behavior analysis. It was established in 1968 and is published by Wiley-Blackwell on behalf of the Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior. The editor-in-chief is John Borrero.

BIOSIS Previews is an English-language, bibliographic database service, with abstracts and citation indexing. It is part of Clarivate Analytics Web of Science suite. BIOSIS Previews indexes data from 1926 to the present.

CAB Direct is a source of references for the applied life sciences It incorporates two bibliographic databases: CAB Abstracts and Global Health. CAB Direct is an access point for multiple bibliographic databases produced by CABI. This database contains over 11 million bibliographic records, which includes 746,000 full text articles. It also includes noteworthy literature reviews. News articles and reports are also part of this combined database. Journal of Zoological Systematics and Evolutionary Research is a quarterly, peer-reviewed, scientific journal, published by Wiley-Blackwell. It was originally established in 1963, then reestablished in 1994 by John Wiley & Sons. The editor in chief is Dr. Wilfried Westheide. According to Journal Citation Reports, the 2016 impact factor for this journal is 2.444.

The Polymer Library, formerly Rapra Abstracts, is a searchable database of research on plastics, rubbers, polymeric composites, and adhesives. It includes abstracts from over 450 journals, as well as company literature, data sheets, and patents. The index covers end-use applications and commercial and legal implications, as well as basic research for academic and corporate scientists. The Library is aggregated by EBSCO, ProQuest, and STN.

<i>Family Process</i> Academic journal

Family Process is a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal covering research on family system issues, including policy and applied practice. It is published by Wiley-Blackwell on behalf of the Family Process Institute. Since 2007, the journal publishes its abstracts in Chinese and Spanish in addition to English. The journal publishes original articles, including theory and practice, philosophical underpinnings, qualitative and quantitative clinical research, and training in couple and family therapy, family interaction, and family relationships with networks and larger systems.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMH) is a quarterly peer-reviewed medical journal published by Wiley-Blackwell in Britain on behalf of the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health. The journal publishes peer-refereed child and adolescent mental health services research relevant to academics, clinicians and commissioners internationally. CAMH publishes reviews, original articles, and pilot reports of innovative approaches, interventions, clinical methods and service developments. The journal has regular sections on Measurement Issues, Innovations in Practice, Global Child Mental Health and Humanities.

The Australian Occupational Therapy Journal is a bimonthly international peer-reviewed medical journal presenting scholarship and research relevant to occupational therapy. It was established in 1952 as the Bulletin of the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists, obtaining its current title in 1963. The journal is published by Wiley-Blackwell. The journal is the official research publication of the professional peak body, Occupational Therapy Australia.

<i>Clinical Otolaryngology</i> Academic journal

Clinical Otolaryngology is a bimonthly peer-reviewed medical journal covering the field of otorhinolaryngology. It was established in 1976 as Clinical Otolaryngology and Allied Sciences, obtaining its current title in 2005. It is published by Wiley-Blackwell on behalf of ENT UK and the British Otorhinolaryngology & Allied Sciences Research Society (BOARS). The journal's scope is described as"clinically oriented research papers ... dealing with: current otorhinolaryngological practice; audiology, otology, balance, rhinology, larynx, voice and paediatric ORL; head and neck oncology; head and neck plastic and reconstructive surgery; and continuing medical education and ORL training."
