The single for "I Wanna Be Your Doll" was the only Rachel Stamp single to be released via the Snapper/Madfish label. The release of the single was followed by a tour of the UK titled the "Permanent Damage Tour". A promotional video, directed by Corin Hardy was made to promote the single.

Elizabeth Caroline Orton is an English singer-songwriter, known for her "folktronica" sound, which mixes elements of folk and electronica. She was initially recognised for her collaborations with William Orbit, Andrew Weatherall, Red Snapper and The Chemical Brothers in the mid-1990s. Her UK/US first solo album, Trailer Park, received much critical acclaim in 1996. Orton developed a devoted audience with the release of the BRIT Award-winning album Central Reservation (1999) and the 2002 UK top 10 album, Daybreaker. Her 2006 album, Comfort of Strangers, was followed by a break during which Orton gave birth to her daughter and collaborated with the British guitarist Bert Jansch. Orton returned with Sugaring Season in 2012, which moved towards a purer acoustic sound, followed by a return to electronic music with Kidsticks, released in 2016.

Recorded by John Fryer in as little as two weeks, Rachel Stamp's debut album was a long time in the making. After Rachel Stamp were dropped from WEA in 1997, the original debut album, Fight the Force of Evil, was in serious doubt of ever seeing a release, but the band released a string of hit independent singles, all of which appear on this album.

"When I Grow Up" is a song by American girl group The Pussycat Dolls from their second studio album Doll Domination (2008). It was released by Interscope Records on May 27, 2008, as the lead single from the album. "When I Grow Up" was their first single following the departure of the group's longest-standing member Carmit Bachar. The song was originally written with Britney Spears in mind, but her label rejected it. It was first recorded for Nicole Scherzinger's planned solo project, Her Name Is Nicole, but after its cancellation and Scherzinger's return to the group, she felt that the song was better suited for the group. It was written by Theron Thomas, Timothy Thomas and Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, who also produced the song. It is an uptempo electropop song. It samples the 1966 song, "He's Always There" by British rock band The Yardbirds. "When I Grow Up" speaks about the desire to be famous, and was described as being "autobiographical" by Scherzinger.

Brooke Dyan Candy is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, director, and fashion stylist. Raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, daughter of Tom Candy, former CFO for Hustler Magazine, Brooke rose to prominence after starring in Grimes' music video for "Genesis" (2012), which went viral online. Following its success, Candy's status in the underground scene rose as she began to release her own material: "Das Me" (2012), "Everybody Does" (2013), and "I Wanna Fuck Right Now" (2013).
