Iberia de Córdoba was a former Mexican football team that played in the Liga Amateur de Veracruz and the Primera Fuerza prior to the professionalization and development of the Mexican first division. The club was established in 1915 and was dissolved in 1943 when the Liga Amateur de Veracruz folded to create the Primera División . It merged with cross town rivals Veracruz Sporting Club and formed Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz.

Liga Amateur de Veracruz was a former football league in Mexico founded by local businessmen in the state of Veracruz, where clubs from the State of Veracruz played from 1908 to 1943.The league folded in 1943 when the Primera División de México the first professional league in Mexico was founded. Important clubs came out of this club such as Orizaba, Veracruz Sporting Club, Iberia de Córdoba, Iberia de Veracruz, and Moctezuma.

The Liga Mexicana de Fútbol Amateur Association, known as the Primera Fuerza, was an amateur football league founded in Mexico in 1902 with five clubs: "Orizaba A.C.", "Pachuca A.C.", "Reforma A.C.", "Mexico Cricket Club" and "British Club". Orizaba won the league in its inaugural year. A total of 37 teams took part in this league from 1902 until 1943, when football in Mexico went professional.

History

Iberia de Córdoba Sporting Club was founded in 1915 in the south side of Veracruz, Mexico by the Spaniards residing there at the time. The brothers Olavarrieta exported of coffee. Due to this the brothers decided to hire a large number of young Spanish immigrants already living partly in Córdoba and partly in the port city of Veracruz and brought to Cordoba. The brothers Olivarrieta who were wealthy Spanish immigrants quickly made their presence felt by signing quality Spanish players. For the first president of the team's financing partner Santiago Olavarrieta was appointed. [1]

In 1943 after the professionalization of football in Mexico the clubs decided to merge with their cross town rivals Veracruz Sporting Club and create Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz in order to enroll in the Primera División de México.

Club Deportivo Tiburones Rojos de la Veracruz, commonly known as Tiburones Rojos de la Veracruz, is a Mexican professional football club based in the city of Veracruz. Veracruz was founded in 1943, and plays in the Liga MX of Mexico. Their nickname "Tiburones Rojos" means red sharks.
