It is the men's basketball department of Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur multi-sport club. It has won the Icelandic championship eighteen times, the most national championships in the men's top-tier league history. It won a record 6 national champions in a row from 2014 to 2019.

The Montenegrin women's national team entered international competition in 2008, playing their first official match on 27 August, against Republic of Ireland in Bijelo Polje (68–56).

Marta Xargay Casademont is a retired Spanish professional basketball player. She played for Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA, and for several European teams in Czech Republic, Russia and Spain. She played for the Spain women's national basketball team from 2011 to 2020. She won EuroLeague Women 2010–11 with Perfumerías Avenida Baloncesto. She left Spain in 2015, joining both USK Praha of the Czech League in 2015 and the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA on 11 February 2015. In September 2018, she signed for Dynamo Kursk of the Russian Premier League and in January 2020, she returned to her youth club Uni Girona CB. After not playing in the 2020-21 season, she announced her retirement in July 2021.

The Belgium women's national basketball team represents Belgium in international basketball, and are controlled by Basketball Belgium. Belgium's first appearance in a major international tournament came at EuroBasket 1950. The team has participated in the European Championship fourteen times overall. Belgium has also competed on the global stage, where they have made two appearances at the World Cup, and one at the Olympic Games (2020).

Oumoul Khairy Sarr is a Senegalese basketball professional player and a member of the Senegalese national team. She has spent most of her professional career in Spain but has also played in France, Mexico, Poland, Turkey and Iceland. In 2021, she won the Mexican national championship.
