Identity [1] is a upcoming Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film [2] written and directed [3] by Anas Khan and Akhil Paul. [4] It is produced by Kochumon and Raju Malliath under the banners of Century Films and Ragam Movies. The film features an ensemble cast of Tovino Thomas, Trisha, Vinay Rai, Madonna Sebastian, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Aju Varghese, Saiju Kurup, and Reba Monica John in prominent roles. [5]

The film was officially announced on November 25, 2022. Principal photography commenced on December 16, 2023, in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The film features music and an original background score by Jakes Bejoy. [6]

Development

The film marks the second directorial collaboration of Anas Khan and Akhil Paul, who also co-wrote the screenplay. The film is produced by Kochumon and Raju Malliath under the banners of Century Films and Ragam Movies. It stars Tovino Thomas, Sanjay Dutt, and Trisha Krishnan. Cinematography is by Akhil George, with editing by Chaman Chakko Distributed by Century Films in India. [7]

Casting

Following the success of 2018, Tovino Thomas signed on for the film with directors Anas Khan and Akhil Paul. The team has announced that Trisha Krishnan will play the female lead, alongside Tovino Thomas in the lead role. The film will also feature Mamtha Mohandas, Madonna Sebastian, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Aju Varghese, and Saiju Kurup in key roles. Additionally, the directors have revealed that the movie will introduce several new faces. [8]

Filming

Principal photography for the film commenced on December 16, 2023, with a traditional puja ceremony. The shoot was completed across multiple schedules in various locations, including Goa in September 2023, Rajasthan in October 2023, Cochin in December 2023 and January 2024, Chennai in February 2024, Thrissur in March 2024, Erode in April 2024, . [9] Thiruvananthapuram in May 2024, Bangalore in June 2024, and Ernakulam, where the production wrapped up on July 3, 2024. The first major schedule in Kerala lasted 33 days, concluding on January 18, 2024. The Erode schedule specifically took place from June 20 to July 3, 2024 [10]

Marketing

On June 30, 2023, Identity was officially announced with a title poster featuring Tovino Thomas in the lead role. After filming commenced, the production team confirmed that Trisha Krishnan would be playing the female lead. The complete cast was later revealed through a series of promotional posters. Marketing for the film began in early October 2024, with ongoing promotional activities leading up to the release. [11]

Music

The music and original background score for Identity were composed by Jakes Bejoy, [12] known for his work in Ranam and Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru. As of now, the music rights for the film have not been sold.
