The show streamed online on YouTube. [1] Since January 1, 2021, the show began simulcasting over TV5's radio arm, Radyo Singko 92.3 News FM. The show concluded on October 1, 2021.

History

On June 5, 2020. Raffy Tulfo announced in One PH's flagship newscast, One Balita Pilipinas that there will be a new live public service program entitled "Idol In Action" that will serves as a lead-in program for the noontime newscast. It will air weekdays at 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (PST) on One PH and TV5. (This was the return of blended format of news and public service on TV after his news and public service program Aksyon sa Tanghali was ended in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and movement of the show's timeslot.) [2]

On June 8, 2020. Idol In Action premiered on One PH and TV5, at 11:30 a.m. PST which hosted by Tulfo himself, alongside Marga Vargas, MJ Marfori (the two doubled their duties as a segment anchors in One Balita Pilipinas), [3] Carol Domingo and Maricel Tulfo-Tungol also joined the program as its co-host and segment hosts respectively. [4]

The program heavily focuses on public service (by its flagship segments "Itimbre Mo Kay Idol" and "I-Tag Mo, Pasisikatin Ko", as well as new segments such as "Simulan Mo, Tatapusin Ko" and "Warning Shot" (and its sister segment, "Good Shot"), viewers and netizens' reaction on the exact problem or case (with its segment "Timbangan Na!"), showcases interviews with the Overseas Filipino Workers (via "Hello, OFW!"), talented netizens (via "#TulfoDanceMoveChallenge", which is later on known as "Raffy Tulfo in Action Tiktok Dance Challenge" (simply "#RTIATiktokDanceChallenge"), (wherein Netizens can upload their videos through messaging on the Raffy Tulfo in Action Facebook page. Tulfo will compete the two sides (whether solo, duo or group) and netizens will decided who will win. The chosen one will win a prize.)), and giving away cash-aid to the viewers (via "Ayuda ni Idol" portion). [5]

On July 2, 2020. Raffy Tulfo announced once more in One Balita Pilipinas, that the show will now be aired for 2 hours from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. [6]

On August 17, 2020. The show had reverted its time to an hour and half (11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) to giveway for the upcoming TV5's load of locally produced entertainment blocktimer programs (including Chika, Besh!). [7]

Aligned with the network's programming changes, On October 2, 2020, Raffy Tulfo ended his anchor stint in One Balita Pilipinas due to the launch of TV5's newest flagship nightly newscast, Frontline Pilipinas . As a result, Cheryl Cosim replaced Tulfo as the anchor of the newscast's original noontime edition, which ended its simulcast on TV5 until October 16, 2020. Because of these changes, the program moved to an earlier 10:30 a.m. timeslot. Since then, the program airs at 10:30 in the morning until 12:00 noon for the rest of its run. [8]

On April 29, 2021, Tulfo himself released resentment and disappointment on the TV5 programming team on planning moved the programs' timeslot on a third time, but Tulfo warned the management to unmove the timeslot. [9]

On September 29, 2021, Tulfo announced that Idol In Action would end on October 1, 2021. [10] Its final episode focused on the unforgettable events in the program. [11] Tulfo has also bid his farewell on his primetime newscast Frontline Pilipinas , [12] but he will continue to appear on his radio program Wanted sa Radyo .

Production

On August 25, 2020, the production was halted due to the massive disinfection of the TV5 Media Center after a TV5 employee tested positive for COVID-19. [21] The program originally planned to resume on September 2, but it was delayed to September 3 due to technical difficulties. [22]

The production was halted again on March 29, 2021, due to an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The program resumed on April 5. [23] On July 7, 9, 15, and 21, 2021, only the last 15–30 minutes of the program are aired on TV5 to give way to the network's simulcast of the 2021 NBA Finals.
