Iheanacho Obioma // ( Loudspeaker.svg listen )is a Nigerian politician and member of the 4th National Assembly representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South constituency of Abia State under the umbrella of the People's Democratic Party between 1999 and 2003. [1]

He later went on to contest for a seat in the Nigerian Senate to represent Abia Central Senatorial district under the flagship of the All Progressives Congress against the then incumbent governor Theodore Orji. [2] [3]

Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe is a Nigerian politician who was elected to the Abia-South Senatorial District of Abia State in the Senate of Nigeria in April 2007. He holds the title Nwadiohanma Ngwa. Enyinnaya is an outspoken senator often contributing to debates on national issues. He is a member of the major opposition People's Democratic Party, PDP in the Nigerian senate. He is currently the Minority leader in the senate. In January 2020, Abaribe during a motion against worsening insecurity in Nigeria, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign reminding president Buhari that Nigerians voted him into power in 2015 and renewed his mandate in 2019 to tackle the security situation in the country. Abaribe said Buhari had made a promise while campaigning for the presidency in 2015 that Nigerians should stone him (Buhari) out of government should he fail to improve the security situation in the country. “Nigerians voted a government into power. We are going with stones to stone them now because they have failed", Abaribe's motion in the senate concluded.

Abia State has a multi-party political system. The politics of Abia State is governed within the framework of a presidential republic with the Governor of Abia State serving jointly as the head-of-state and head of government. The 2019 Abia State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. Incumbent PDP Governor Okezie Ikpeazu won re-election for a second term, defeating APC's Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, and several minor party candidates. The major contenders for the race signed a peace accord agreement in January 2019.

The 2023 Abia State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Abia State, concurrent with elections to the Abia State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. It will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.

The 2019 Nigerian Senate election in Abia State was held on February 23, 2019, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Abia State. Enyinnaya Abaribe representing Abia South and Theodore Orji representing Abia Central won on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, while Orji Uzor Kalu representing Abia North won on the platform of All Progressives Congress.

The 2015 Nigerian Senate election in Abia State was held on March 28, 2015, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Abia State. Theodore Orji representing Abia Central, Enyinnaya Abaribe representing Abia South and Mao Ohuabunwa representing Abia North all won on the platform of All Progressives Congress.
