Ike Ferdinand Odimegwu is a Nigerian professor of philosophy and political philosopher. [1]

Early life

He was born at Obiaruku, a city in Delta State, southern Nigeria. He was a student under the tutelage of Theophilus Okere, a renowned Nigerian philosopher at Owerri, the capital of Imo State, Nigeria. [2] He later obtained a Master of Arts degree from the University of Nigeria. [3]

Career

He began his academic career at Federal College of Education, Umunze, Nigeria, before in 1999 joining the services of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where he later served as Head of Philosophy Department and Chairman of the Faculty of Arts Welfare Committee. [4] He also served as Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University Chapter. [5] He is the incumbent Coordinator of ASUU, Owerri zone. [6]

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, also called UNIZIK or NAU in short is a federal university in Nigeria. It consists of two campuses in Anambra State. Its main campus is in Awka, while its other campus is in Nnewi. There are also other campuses of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. These include Agulu in Aniocha local government area and Ifite-Ogwuari in Ayamelum local government area in Anambra State. This makes Nnamdi Azikiwe University to operate in the three Senatorial Districts in Anambra State, Nigeria having Awka campus, in Anambra Central Senatorial District, Nnewi in Anambra North Senatorial District and Ifite-Ogwuari in Anambra North Senatorial District, respectively. These campuses have libraries and information services that serve the students, academic and non-academic staff. It is one of the federal universities which are overseen and accredited by the National Universities Commission. The university is named after late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. The academic staff of the university belong to Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The staff union is known to grant scholarship to indigent students just like other philanthropists. It has a total population of about 34,000 students.

Chuba Wilberforce Okadigbo, was a Nigerian philosopher, academic, writer and political scientist. He served as Senate president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2000. Okadigbo was sometimes referred to as Oyi of Oyi in reference to his local government council area (Oyi); he also held numerous political positions in the Nigeria government and was known to have opposed the ruling Peoples Democratic Party of Nigeria, which was led by President Olusẹgun Ọbasanjọ from the year 1999–2007.

Ayamelum is a local government area (LGA) in Anambra state, in the southeastern part of Nigeria with headquarters in Anaku. The towns that make up the local government are Anaku, Umueje, Omasi, Igbakwu, Umumbo, Omor, Umuerum and Ifite Ogwari. Ayamelum’s area is situated at the border between Enugu state and Anambra state. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is a Nigerian union of university academic staff, founded in 1978. ASUU is an offshoot of the Nigerian Association of University Teachers (NAUT) which was established in 1965. At that time, NAUT consisted of only five universities in total including University of Ibadan, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, University of Ife and University of Lagos. Professor Victor Emmanuel Osodeke emerged as the body's president on 30 May 2021.

Ogbonna Nwuke is a Nigerian politician, newspaper publisher and owner of the Port Harcourt Telegraph. She succeeds Professor Patrick Eya as the University's first female Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

Chinwe Nwogo Ezeani, is a Nigerian Chartered Librarian and the immediate past University Librarian of Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (U.N.N.). She is a Professor of Library and Information Science. Her tenure as a University Librarian (UL) at Nnamdi Azikiwe Library was between March 2014-March 2019. She is the first female University Librarian since the inception of Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, University of Nigeria Nsukka. In April, 2021, Dr. Ilo Promise Ifeoma took over as the current University Librarian of Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, (U.N.N)

Chinyere Stella Okunna is the first female professor in Mass communication in Nigeria. She has served in various capacities as an administrator and educationist in the academia and in the public/political arena. Chinyere Stella Okunna research interest is in the area of communication for development, particularly women’s development from the perspective of women and the media. Charles Okechukwu Esimone is a Nigerian professor of biopharmaceutics and pharmaceutical biotechnology who currently serves as the vice-chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Nigeria. He is the first professor of pharmaceutical microbiology in South-Eastern Nigeria.

Purity Ada Uchechukwu is a Nigerian Hispanist, a professor and Senior lecturer of Spanish at the Department of Modern European Languages, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Her linguistic research focuses on the Afro-Hispanic people, Spanish as a second language and its role in Africa and the United States. Uchechukwu is one of the motivating forces behind Hispanist scholarship in English-speaking sub-Saharan Africa.

Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh is a Nigerian Politician and Professor of Applied Geophysics. He is currently the gubernatorial nominee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Ebonyi State.
