Ilze Juhansone (born 1971) is the Secretary-General of the European Commission. She is a European civil servant and former Latvian diplomat. [1] [2]
In August 2019,she became the acting Secretary-General pending the search for a full-time successor to Germany's Martin Selmayr. [3] [4] Following the period as acting,she was appointed Secretary-General on 14 January 2020. [5] She was previously Deputy Secretary-General of the commission for interinstitutional and external relations from 2015 until 2019,since October 2015,and before that had been Permanent Representative of Latvia to the European Union from 2011 to 2015 during its Council Presidency. This was preceded by having been Director General for EU Affairs at the Latvian Foreign Ministry between 2008 and 2011. [1]
While Permanent Representative of Latvia,she was awarded the Order of the Three Stars,3rd class. [5]

She served as Foreign Minister of Latvia 2002–2004 and as European Commissioner for Agriculture,Rural Development and Fisheries in 2004. Since 2009,she has served as Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the European People's Party.

The College of Europe is historically linked to the establishment of the European Union and its predecessors,and to the creation of the European Movement International,of which the college is a supporting member. Federica Mogherini,former High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy,was appointed as the Rector to start in September 2020;former President of the European Council Herman,Count Van Rompuy is chairman of the board.
Danuta Maria Hübner,née Młynarska is a Polish politician and Diplomat and Economist and Member of the European Parliament. She has served as European Commissioner for Regional Policy from 22 November 2004 until 4 July 2009,when she resigned to become a Member of European Parliament for the Civic Platform. In 2012,Professor Hübner became a member of the International Honorary Council of the European Academy of Diplomacy.
Sophia Helena "Sophie" in 't Veld is a Dutch politician of the Volt party,and formerly of the D66 party. As a D66 member,she was elected as a Member of the European Parliament in 2004,and reelected in 2009,2014 and 2019. She previously served as Italy's Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation from February 2014 to October 2014,in the centre-left Renzi Cabinet. She was a Member of the Chamber of Deputies (MP) from 2008 to 2014. In 2020 she was appointed rector of the College of Europe,a post-graduate university for European studies in Bruges (Belgium) and Natolin (Poland).

She served as a Member of the Chamber of Deputies between 2013 and 2014 and as the Czech Minister for Regional Development in 2014.

Martin Selmayr is a European civil servant from Germany who was Secretary-General of the European Commission from 2018 to 2019 and chief of staff to Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker from 2014 to 2018. During his time in the Juncker Commission,Selmayr was widely described as one of the most influential figures within the European Union. After taking office as secretary-general,he was described in a debate in the European Parliament as "the most powerful bureaucrat in the world." A resident of Brussels since 2000,he is a member of the Christian Democratic and Flemish (CD&V) party of Belgium. He is considered by many to be close to the Christian Democratic Union of Germany and its leadership,but the European Commission said he has never been a member of that party.
