The 1984 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XIV Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Sarajevo '84, were a winter multi-sport event held between 8 and 19 February 1984 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. It was the first Winter Olympic Games held in a Slavic language-speaking country, as well as the only Winter Olympics held in a communist country before the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. It was the second consecutive Olympic Games held in a communist country, after the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union.

Richard "Rich" Kenah is a former US middle-distance runner who won bronze medals over 800 metres at the 1997 World Indoor Championships and at the World Championships in Athens. After placing second in the Olympic 800m Trials, Kenah ran in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, placing 6th in his 800-meter heat.

Another athlete, Lenira Santos, was selected to compete in athletics but was forced to pull out due to injury. Monteiro was selected as the flag bearer for both the opening and closing ceremonies. The 1962 World Rowing Championships were the inaugural world championships in rowing. The competition was held in September 1962 on the Rotsee in Lucerne, Switzerland. Rowers from West Germany dominated the competition, winning five of the seven boat classes.

Immaculate High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Danbury, Connecticut, United States. Overseen by the Diocese of Bridgeport, IHS serves residents of 28 towns in the greater Danbury area. Immaculate High School, established in 1962, enrolls 400 to 500 male and female students. The 2007 Nigerian Senate election in Abia State was held on 21 April 2007, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Abia State. Nkechi J Nwaogu representing Abia Central and Eyinnaya Abaribe representing Abia South won on the platform of People's Democratic Party while Uche Chukwumerije representing Abia North won on the platform of the Progressive Peoples Alliance.
