In Search of Elusive Little Comets is the debut studio album by Newcastle band Little Comets. The album was released on 31 January 2011, both digitally and physically. [2] It included four singles: "Adultery", "One Night in October", "Isles" and "Joanna". The record received mixed reviews and peaked at number 54 in the UK Albums Chart.

Musical style

The album opens with many "strong kicking choruses...ridden with a funky, feel-good, indie disco pound and tight guitar riffs". It "continues to emphasize Little Comets' variety and eclecticism". In sum, it is "an album containing fun, danceable, eclectic eccentricity, a slick, fresh indie vibe and a concluding powerful ballad". [3]

Little Comets

Little Comets are an English indie rock trio from Jarrow and Washington, Tyne and Wear. They are described as playing "kitchen sink indie" music. In early 2009 the band were signed to Columbia Records following numerous gigs in strange locations such as lecture theatres and various modes of public transport and support from DJ Huw Stephens. After departing their major record label they released their début album, In Search of Elusive Little Comets, on 31 January 2011. The band released their second album, Life is Elsewhere, on 15 October 2012 under Dirty Hit records.

The xx British indie pop band

The xx are an English indie pop band from Wandsworth, London, formed in 2005. The band consists of Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, Jamie Smith, also known as Jamie xx, and formerly Baria Qureshi. They are known for their distinct and minimalist sound that blends indie pop, indie electronic, indie rock, dream pop and electro-rock and the dual vocalist setup of both Croft and Sim. Their music employs soft, echoed guitar, prominent bass, light electronic beats and ambient soundscape backgrounds.

<i>House of Balloons</i> First of three 2011 mixtapes by the Weeknd

House of Balloons is the debut mixtape by Canadian singer the Weeknd. It was released as a free download on March 21, 2011, then was later released by XO. The mixtape was also released on the Weeknd's official website. Its music incorporates electronic and contemporary genres, including R&B and soul, along with trip hop, indie rock and dream pop tones. The contributions to the mixtape's production came from Canadian record producers such as Doc McKinney, Zodiac and Illangelo, among others. On November 13, 2012, the Weeknd released his three-part compilation album Trilogy, where the first part is the House of Balloons mixtape.
