Critical reception

The Austin Chronicle wrote: "High-lonesome vocal harmonies and traditional instrumentation (except the trademark bass made from an auto gas tank) nominally bring this band under the 'bluegrass' category, but the ferocity of the playing and desperation of the lyrics would have Bill Monroe spinning in his grave like a chicken on a spit." Union Station is an American bluegrass and country band associated with singer Alison Krauss. The act established in 1987 as a backup band for Krauss is usually referred to as Alison Krauss and Union Station and was initially composed of Krauss, Jeff White, Mike Harman and John Pennell. Later additions included Tim Stafford, Ron Block, Adam Steffey, Barry Bales and Larry Atamanuik. Live at the Cotillion Ballroom is the first live DVD from the bluegrass/punk band Split Lip Rayfield. It was recorded live on December 8 of 2006 at The Cotillion Ballroom in Wichita, Kansas. It was billed as the "last show" after the deteriorating health of band member Kirk Rundstrom made it difficult to tour. The DVD contains songs from all five studio albums, including "Rig or Cross", which was unreleased at the time, but later appeared on I'll Be Around. It also contained the songs "How Many Biscuits Can You Eat?", "Orange Blossom Special", and "Old Time Religion", not on any studio album.
