Indian Theological Seminary (ITS) is an interdenominational seminary situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, South India. It is affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College, Serampore, West Bengal. ITS is the missionary training arm of Gilgal Gospel Mission. [1]
The Gilgal Gospel Mission trains men and women and sends them two by two into Hindu villages, with a view to them establishing friendships in the villages and starting Sunday Schools and later Churches. In order to train and equip these missionaries, Indian Theological Seminary (ITS) was founded in 1990.
ITS prepares three types of Church planters (a) bare foot evangelists (C.Th) (b) Bachelor of Theology (B.Th) (c) Master of Divinity (M.Div). Graduates who prepare at ITS fulfill the vision of "Preaching Christ and Planting Churches" in every village, town and city. Many return to their homes in the various parts of India to continue teaching, preaching, and planting churches.
Serampore College is located in Serampore, in West Bengal state, India. Established in 1818, it is the third oldest college in the country after CMS College, Kottayam and Presidency College Calcutta, and one of the oldest continuously operating educational institutes in India. Masilamani or Abel Boanerges Masilamani (1914–1990) was a Golden Jubilee Baptist pastor and evangelist on whom parallels had been drawn comparing his ecclesiastical ministry with that of Saint Paul. The Mar Thoma Syrian Church, one of the Saint Thomas Christian Churches founded by Thomas the Apostle in the first century which holds the annual Maramon Conventions used to have Masilamani preach at its conventions since the 1970s. Hannibal Richard Cabral(1955 — 23rd October 2021) was the former principal of Karnataka Theological College, Mangalore, a seminary established in 1965 and affiliated to India's first University, the Senate of Serampore College. Cabral was appointed by the College Council as Principal in 2009 as John Sadananda, then principal, was elevated to the Bishopric of the Karnataka Southern Diocese of the Church of South India.

Solomon was an Old Testament Scholar and a Baptist Patriarch hailing from the Protestant Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches Society (an affiliate member of the Baptist World Alliance and the National Council of Churches in India) and led it as its President during the years 1978-1982 overseeing the spiritual affairs of the Church Society whose ecclesiastical jurisdiction comprises the three states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with 873 Churches comprising nearly a million members per present statistics.
