The Indonesia women's national handball team is the national team of Indonesia. It is governed by the Indonesia Handball Association and takes part in international handball competitions.
Handball is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins.
The European Women's Handball Championship is the official competition for senior women's national handball teams of Europe, and takes place every two years. In addition to crowning the European champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games and World Championship. As of December 2022, the only teams that have ever won the championship are Norway, Denmark, Hungary, Montenegro and France.
The Indonesia national football team represents Indonesia in international football. They were the first Asian team to participate in the FIFA World Cup, particularly in the 1938 edition as the Dutch East Indies. The 6–0 loss to eventual finalists Hungary in the first round remains the nation's only appearance in the World Cup. Thus, Indonesia holds the World Cup records as the team with the fewest matches played (1) and one of the teams with the fewest goals scored (0).

Three other states located along the western fringe of Asia – Cyprus, Armenia and Israel – are also EHF members. USA Team Handball is the governing body for handball in the United States. USA Team Handball is funded in part by the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Previously, the governing body was the United States Team Handball Federation.
The 2017 Asian Women's Youth Handball Championship was the 7th edition of the championship organised by the Indonesia Handball Association under the auspices of the Asian Handball Federation. It was held in Jakarta (Indonesia) from 20 to 28 August 2017 and was played by under-17 years players. It was the first time that Indonesia staged the competition. It also acts as qualification tournament for the IHF Women's Youth World Handball Championship. Top four teams will qualify for the 2018 Women's Youth World Handball Championship to be held in Poland.

Handball at the 2018 Asian Games was held at the POPKI Sports Hall, Jakarta, Indonesia, from 13 August to 31 August 2018. In this tournament, 13 teams participated in the men's competition while 10 teams participated in the women's competition.
