The indoor rowing event at the World Games 2017 was held at the Multifunctional Hall in Jelcz-Laskowice, Poland. [1] [2] [3] For the first time, indoor rowing was included in the World Games as an invitational sport.

There was a maximum number of participants of 20 for the 2000m races, and 15 for the 500m races. [4]
Each national rowing federation could qualify a maximum of one man and one woman for the 500m event, and one of the 2000m events.
In addition, the 2000m events had universality quotas. For the regions of Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America & Caribbean, a minimum of 2 athletes from each was required. For Australia & New Zealand, Oceania (excl. AUS & NZ) and USA and Canada, there was a minimum of 1. [5]
For each event, the highest ranked athletes on the Concept2 rankings were taken, and then athletes above the maximum per federation were removed, as were those not meeting the universality quotas, until there was enough athletes qualified.

World Rowing, also known as the World Rowing Federation, is the international governing body for rowing. Its current president is Jean-Christophe Rolland who succeeded Denis Oswald at a ceremony held in Lucerne in July 2014.

This article details the qualifying phase for rowing at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The majority of the spots were awarded to the National Olympic Committees, not to specific athletes, at the 2019 World Rowing Championships, held in Ottensheim, Austria from 25 August to 1 September 2019. At the World Championships countries qualify boats rather than crews and can make crew changes for the Olympic regatta for qualified boats. Further berths are distributed to the nations at four continental qualifying regattas in Asia and Oceania, Africa, Latin America, and Europe. The last berths were distributed at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta held in Lucerne, Switzerland 15–16 May 2021.
For the athletics at the 2020 Summer Olympics competitions, the following qualification systems are in place. Qualification ended on 29 June 2021, but for marathon and 50 km race walking, it already ended on 31 May 2021. Some 1900 athletes, from 196 countries, will compete. 103 countries are qualified also through Universality places.

The rowing competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are scheduled to run from 27 July to 3 August at the National Olympic Nautical Stadium of Île-de-France in Vaires-sur-Marne. The number of rowers competing across fourteen gender-based categories at these Games has been reduced from 526 to 502, with an equal distribution between men and women. Despite the slight changes in athlete figures, the rowing program for Paris 2024 remains constant from the previous edition as the competition will feature an equal number of categories for men and women, with seven each.
