Pétanque is a sport that falls into the category of boules sports. In these sports, players or teams play their boules/balls towards a target ball. In pétanque the objective is to score points by having boules closer to the target than the opponent after all boules have been thrown. This is achieved by throwing or rolling boules closer to the small target ball, officially called a jack, or by hitting the opponents' boules away from the target, while standing inside a circle with both feet on the ground. The game is normally and best played on hard dirt or gravel. It can be played in public areas in parks or in dedicated facilities called boulodromes.
Rowing has been part of the Summer Olympics since its debut in the 1900 Games. Rowing was on the program at the 1896 Summer Olympics but was cancelled due to bad weather. Only men were allowed to compete until the women's events were introduced at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal which gave national federations the incentive to support women's events and catalysed growth in women's rowing. Lightweight rowing events were introduced to the games in 1996. Qualifying for the rowing events is under the jurisdiction of the World Rowing Federation. World Rowing predates the modern Olympics and was the first international sport federation to join the modern Olympic movement.

European Pétanque Championships are organised by the European Pétanque Federation in collaboration with its member country federations. There are five main player groups for competitions: Youth, Up-and-coming, Women, Men, and Veteran. Competitors play a variety of games according to their age. Thailand competed in the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, United States from 7 to 17 July 2022. The games were originally scheduled for July 2021, but were postponed due to the rescheduling of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Athletes representing Thailand won four gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze medals. The country finished in 18th place in the medal table.

Ke Leng is a retired Cambodian pétanque player. She won four consecutive Women's Pétanque World Championships in the precision shooting category. She is widely considered one of the greatest Cambodian pétanque players and Cambodian athletes.
