The kickboxing event at the World Games 2017 was held at the Orbita Hall in Poland. [1] [2] For the first time, kickboxing was included in the World Games 2017 as an invitational sport. [3]
Qualifications for the World Games 2017 were held at the WAKO Continental Championships that were organized by each WAKO Continental Federation/ Confederation as follows:

The African Kickboxing Championships 2016 (K1 Rules style) which was held from the 21 to 25 December 2016 in Rabat, Morocco, served as qualification of African Kickboxing Confederation Athletes for 2017 World Games. [5]
The 2015 and 2016 Asian Kickboxing Championships acted consecutively, as stage one and stage two for the Asian qualifications of the 2017 World games. Stage one was held from the 1st till the 9th of August 2015 in Pune, India. [6]
The 2016 Asian Kickboxing Championships K1 Rules (stage two of the qualifications) were held over three days in Cheongju, Korea during October 2016, by the Asian Kickboxing Confederation (WAKO Asia) on the occasion of the Cheongju World Martial Arts Masterships with the participation of 16 member federations which competed in 12 weight categories. The European championships which was held from the 23 to 30 October 2016 in Maribor, Slovenia, was part of the K1 WAKO qualifying system for The World Games 2017. [8]
The Pan American championships were held in Cancun, Mexico, from October 26 to 29, 2016. The event was the Pan American qualifications for the World Games organized by the International World Games Association (IWGA) in July 2017, in Wroclaw, Poland. [9] The American Continent has the right for 18 vacancies in 12 official categories at K1 Rules (8 for men and 4 for women) for the IWGA World Games 2017.

The World Association of Kickboxing Organizations is an international kickboxing organization counting over 120 affiliated countries representing all five continents. WAKO is a major governing body of amateur kickboxing and is responsible for the development of kickboxing worldwide. The organization was officially recognized as an official kickboxing governing body by Sport Accord. WAKO is recognized by the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

W.A.K.O. World Championships 2007 in Belgrade were the joint 16th edition of the W.A.K.O. world championships - the second event would be held later that year in Coimbra, Portugal. They were for amateur male and female kickboxers and covered the following categories; K-1, Low-Kick and Light-Contact. Weight classes for men ranged from light bantamweight to super heavyweight, while the women's ranged from featherweight to super heavyweight. More information on the categories, weight classes and rules is provided in the various sections below. In total there were 1085 athletes at the championships, representing sixty countries including China, fighting in 49 tournaments. The Belgrade championships were held at the Pionir Hall in Belgrade, Serbia from Monday, September 24 to Monday, October 1, 2007.

He is the former WKN Middleweight Oriental rules and Muay thai champion, former WMC Light Heavyweight champion, two time WMC I-1 World Muaythai Grand Slam champion and two time Kunlun Fight 80 kg tournament runner-up.
The 2017 World Games, also known as Wrocław 2017, was the tenth edition of the World Games, held from 20 to 30 July 2017 in Wrocław, Poland. The World Games were organized by the Wrocław Organizing Committee. Wrocław was selected as the host city in January 2012 in Lausanne, over Budapest, Hungary. It was the first time The World Games was organised in Poland.

Farinaz Lari is an Iranian kickboxer. She was the first Iranian woman to win the World Kickboxing Championships. She is currently the 52 kg World Number Five ranked contender in K-1 Rules WAKO as of November 2017.
Dawid Kasperski is a Polish Muay Thai kickboxer. He first came to prominence due to a successful amateur career by taking gold at the Kick-Box World Cup in 2013 and silver at the WAKO World Championships in the same year. Kasperski signed with the professional kickboxing promotion SUPERKOMBAT Fighting Championship in 2014, winning the SUPERKOMBAT Light heavyweight Tournament Champion on his debut on April 12. He is also a 14-time Polish Champion in Muay Thai, K-1 and kickboxing and Polish Professional Champion in K-1.
Therese Gunnarsson, nicknamed "The Gun", is a Swedish professional Muay Thai fighter. She started training kickboxing in 2004, but switched to Muay Thai in 2010. She has won both the WAKO Pro title, and the world amateur kickboxing championship. She is the first and only Swedish fighter to accomplish this.
Iraq competed at the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland, from 20 July 2017 to 30 July 2017 but failed to win any medals, due to the loss of its only competitor at the Muaythai event in the first round.

Monika Chochlíková is a Slovak professional Muay Thai fighter and kickboxer. She won a gold medal in the WAKO world championships in 2019, and is the first Slovak fighter ever to win the WAKO European championships and IFMA European championships. In 2021 she won the WMC World Muaythai Title, the first female Slovak fighter to do so; she also won gold at the I.F.M.A. World Championship after four wins in the Female Elite -51 kg category, the first Slovak fighter ever to do so. In 2022 she won as first Muaythai fighter in The World Games IFMA after 3 winning fights.

Fotima hails from a family of four athletic and championship-winning sisters. Their sports journey commenced in 2000, with a dedicated focus on taekwondo and kickboxing. Starting in 2002, they engaged with pivotal Taekwon-Do (ITF) events, and since 2005, they've been integral members of the National Team of the Republic of Tajikistan.
