Dr. Indra Hang Subba (Limbu) is an Indian politician from Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party . He is a Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) constituency from the Sikkim India,first elected in 2019 election (17th Lok Sabha) and re-elected in 2024 election (18th Lok Sabha). [1] [2] [3]
He has completed his Doctorate in Physics from Sikkim Sikkim University .
He was born in Subba family in West Sikkim within the Maneybong-Dentam constituency. He completed his schooling from the Hee Yangthang Senior secondary school and later studied at Sikkim University.
A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency,the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Each state has between seven and nine MLAs for every Member of Parliament (MP) that it has in the Lok Sabha,the lower house of India's bicameral parliament. Nar Bahadur Bhandari was an Indian politician who served as the chief minister of the state of Sikkim from 1979 to 1994. He briefly served as Member of Parliament representing Sikkim Lok Sabha constituency from 1984 to 1985. He was the founding leader of the Sikkim Sangram Parishad. He was popularly remembered for his efforts to include the Nepali language in 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India. He was awarded with prestigious Jagadamba Shree Purasakar for his contribution for Nepali language. He was the first Indian chief minister of Gorkha origin. He also served as the president of Bharatiya Nepali Bhasha Parisangh until his death. He is popularly known as the architect of modern Sikkim.
