Ronald Levin Carter is an American jazz double bassist. His appearances on 2,221 recording sessions make him the most-recorded jazz bassist in history. He has won three Grammy Awards, and is also a cellist who has recorded numerous times on that instrument. In addition to a solo career of more than 60 years, Carter is well-known for playing on numerous iconic Blue Note albums in the 1960s, as well as being the anchor of trumpeter Miles Davis's "Second Great Quintet" from 1963-1968.
The Pharcyde is an American hip hop group, formed in 1989, from South Central Los Angeles. The original four members of the group are Imani, Slimkid3, Bootie Brown, and Fatlip. DJ Mark Luv was the group's first disc jockey (DJ), followed by producer J-Swift.
Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde is the debut album by the American hip hop collective the Pharcyde, released on November 24, 1992, through the Delicious Vinyl and EastWest labels. The album was produced by former group member J-Swift, and features a guest appearance by Los Angeles rapper Bucwheed. In the years after its release, Bizarre Ride has been hailed by music critics and alternative hip hop fans as a classic hip hop album and has appeared in numerous publications' "best albums" lists.
"Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" is a song by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson recorded for his sixth studio album Thriller (1982). It is the opening track of the album and was released as its fourth single on May 9, 1983, by Epic Records. It was written and co-produced by Jackson and produced by Quincy Jones. The lyrics pertain to strangers spreading rumors to start an argument for no good reason. "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" evokes the disco sound of Jackson's previous studio album, Off the Wall, released in 1979. The song is characterized by a complex rhythm arrangement and a distinctive horn arrangement.
"Say Somethin'" is a song by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey. It was written by Carey, Snoop Dogg, Chad Hugo, and Pharrell Williams, and produced by The Neptunes as the sixth and final single from Carey's tenth studio album, The Emancipation of Mimi (2005). The song is one of few from Carey's catalog in which she does not share production credits. "Say Somethin'" features Dogg as a guest artist, and is influenced by R&B and hip-hop music genres. Lyrically, the song is a dialogue in between and male and female, that discuss sexual themes and acts of which they plan to engage in a restroom.
Derrick Lemel Stewart ,, known professionally as Fatlip, is a Los Angeles–born hip hop musician. He started his career in the hip hop group The Pharcyde.
Labcabincalifornia is the second album by The Pharcyde, released in 1995, three years after their debut Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde. The album's production was handled by The Pharcyde themselves and Jay Dee, with additional help from Diamond D and M-Walk. The video for the album's first single, "Drop", was directed by Spike Jonze and used footage of the group performing the song backwards, replayed backwards, giving it a surreal quality. The song was a hit, as was the follow-up single "Runnin'," which peaked at #55 on the Billboard Hot 100.
J-Swift is a Spanish music producer responsible for songs with groups on the Delicious Vinyl label. He has produced the hip hop groups The Pharcyde and The Wascals.
Plain Rap is the third studio album by Los Angeles hip hop group The Pharcyde. The album was released on November 7, 2000, on Delicious Vinyl/Edel America Records. Slimkid3 left the group after the release of the album.

Jay Deelicious: The Delicious Vinyl Years is a compilation album that catalogues hip hop producer J Dilla's early production career. The album showcases Dilla's first work with Pharcyde, and consequently, his rise to fame with other artists. As well all proceeds from the sale of this album will be given to his mother, Maureen Yancey.

"Drop" is a single by alternative hip hop group The Pharcyde, released in 1995 as the second single for the group's second album, Labcabincalifornia. The single contains a reversed sample of Dorothy Ashby's recording of "Django", originally by the Modern Jazz Quartet, as well as a vocal sample of the Beastie Boys song "The New Style", using the titular "mmm..... drop" line delivered during a drop to create its hook.
"Somethin' 4 da Honeyz" is the second single released from American singer-songwriter Montell Jordan's debut album, This Is How We Do It (1995). Produced by Oji Pierce, the song was the follow-up to Montell's number-one hit, "This Is How We Do It" and was released in July 1995 by Def Jam and Island.
