The Pharcyde is an American alternative hip hop group, formed in 1989, from South Central Los Angeles. The original four members of the group are Imani, Slimkid3, Bootie Brown, and Fatlip. DJ Mark Luv was the group's first disc jockey (DJ), followed by producer J-Swift. The group is perhaps best known for the hit singles "Drop", "Passin' Me By" and "Runnin'", as well as their first album, Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde (1992). The group continues to tour and record, both collaboratively and in solo projects—the most recent being Hardson's collaborative EP with DJ Nu-Mark released in 2014 on Delicious Vinyl.
All Hail the Queen is the debut studio album by American rapper Queen Latifah. The album was released on November 7, 1989, through Tommy Boy Records. The feminist anthem "Ladies First", featuring Monie Love, remains one of Latifah's signature songs.
Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde is the debut album by American hip hop collective The Pharcyde, released on November 24, 1992, through the Delicious Vinyl and EastWest labels. The album was produced by former group member J-Swift, and features only one guest appearance, provided by little-known Los Angeles rapper Bucwheed. In the years after its release, Bizarre Ride has been hailed by music critics and alternative hip hop fans, as a classic hip hop album along with Souls of Mischief's 93 'til Infinity, and has appeared in numerous publications' "best albums" lists.
Derrick Stewart, known professionally as Fatlip, is a Los Angeles–born hip hop musician. He started his career in the hip hop group The Pharcyde.
Dance with My Father is the thirteenth and final studio album by American R&B/soul singer Luther Vandross. It was released by J Records on June 10, 2003 in the United States and served as the follow-up to his self-titled studio album (2001). The album, especially its title track, was dedicated to Vandross's late father and features production credits from Nat Adderley Jr., Shep Crawford, and Marcus Miller as well as guest appearances by singer Beyoncé, R&B trio Next, and rappers Foxy Brown, Queen Latifah, and Busta Rhymes.

The album showcases Dilla's first work with Pharcyde, and consequently, his rise to fame with other artists. As well all proceeds from the sale of this album will be given to his mother, Maureen Yancey.
Nature of a Sista' is the second studio album by American rapper Queen Latifah. Released on September 3, 1991, it served as a follow-up to her 1989 debut album All Hail the Queen and was her final album with Tommy Boy Records. Latifah was an executive producer for Nature of a Sista' alongside American producer Shakim Compere. Although predominantly a hip hop album, it includes elements of reggae, jazz, R&B, new jack swing, and house music. The lyrics of the album's songs revolve around gender politics and romance. While discussing the album's overall style, Latifah said she moved away from hardcore hip hop to experiment with other music genres and have more creative control over her work.

"Drop" is a single by alternative hip hop group The Pharcyde, released in 1995 as the second single for the group's second album, Labcabincalifornia. The single contains a reversed sample of Dorothy Ashby's recording of "Django", originally by the Modern Jazz Quartet, as well as a vocal sample of the Beastie Boys song "The New Style", using the titular "mmm..... drop" line delivered during a drop to create its hook.

The song contains two verses by Slimkid3 and Fatlip, Fatlip's verse in particular is highly regarded among fans and critics of the group for its conversational style delivery and easy flowing pace. Both verses address issues of love and relationships. Slimkid3 does his first verse in his trademark incorporation of both singing and rapping. He also sings the ending of the song.
"Runnin'" is a song performed by The Pharcyde and produced by J Dilla. It was released as the first single from The Pharcyde's second album Labcabincalifornia in 1995. The song peaked at #55 on the Billboard Hot 100, and reached #35 on the U.S. R&B chart. Also featured in The Pharcyde's greatest hits compilation Cydeways: The Best of The Pharcyde, "Runnin'" is one of Pharcyde's most remembered songs, along with "Passin' Me By".

The Price You Got to Pay to Be Free is an album by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet recorded, in part, at the 1970 Monterey Jazz Festival. A portion of the performance is memorialized in the 1971 Clint Eastwood movie Play Misty For Me. Additional "live in-studio" tracks were recorded the following month at the Capitol Records Tower, in Hollywood, to stretch the Monterey material into a double album. The album features Adderley with brother Nat Adderley, Joe Zawinul, Walter Booker and Roy McCurdy and guest appearances by Bob West and Cannon's 15-year-old nephew Nat Adderley Jr. who wrote and performed the gospel-influenced protest title song.
