Mrinal Sen was an Indian film director and screenwriter known for his work primarily in Bengali, and a few Hindi and Telugu language films. Regarded as one of the finest Indian filmmakers, along with his contemporaries Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak, and Tapan Sinha, Sen played a major role in the New Wave cinema of eastern India.

Koel Mallick is an Indian actress who appears in Bengali films. She is the daughter of actor Ranjit Mallick and Deepa Mallick. She made her film debut with Nater Guru (2003) opposite Jeet, which was a box office-success. Some of her popular films are Shubhodrishti (2005), Mon Mane Na (2008), Premer Kahini (2008), Paglu (2011), Paglu 2 (2012), Rangbaaz (2013), Arundhati (2014) and Besh Korechi Prem Korechi (2015).

Sathi (transl. Partner) is a 2002 Indian Bengali-language musical romantic drama film co-written and directed by Haranath Chakraborty. Produced by Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films. It stars Jeet, making his debut, Priyanka Upendra and Ranjit Mallick in lead roles. The soundtrack and background score was composed by S.P Venkatesh, while V. Prabhakar handled the cinematography and editing was finished by Swapan Guha. The film follows the tragic journey of Bijoy Ray, a struggling singer, who comes to Kolkata to find his love Sonali, being released from jail after 5 years due to false accuses of carrying firearms.The film is an official remake of the Tamil film Thulladha Manamum Thullum.
Sangee is a 2003 Indian Bengali-language romantic emotional drama film directed by Haranath Chakraborty. Featuring Jeet and Priyanka Trivedi in their second film together, it served as the Bengali remake of the 1998 Tamil film Kannedhirey Thondrinal. Silajit Majumder plays a crucial role in the film.
Nater Guru(Bengali: নাটের গুরু ; English: The main culprit) is a 2003 Indian Bengali language action-comedy film directed by Haranath Chakraborty. Based on Samaresh Basu's famous novel of the same name, the film stars Ranjit Mallick, Jeet, Moushmi Chatterjee and Koel Mallick, making her cinematic debut. It was successful at the box office.Nater Guru revolves around four main leads—Shashi Bhushan, a bookie in Kolkata race course who always gets defeated the challenges; Sulochona, Shashi's wife who keeps herself mutually separated from her husband becoming bore of his involvement with race course; Manisha, their daughter who gets troubled when her mother wants to meet her love interest, Durgadas; and Rabi, a mechanic who is hired to be the false Durgadas in front of Sulochona, by the advise of Shashi's advise.
Manik is a Bengali action drama film released in 2005. It was written and directed by Probhat Roy and chief assistant director was Madhuchhanda Sengupta, the movie featured Jeet, Koel Mallick, Ranjit Mallick. This film was shot at Kalimpong Golf Course.
Yuddho is a 2005 Indian Bengali-language vigilante action thriller film written and directed by Ravi Kinnagi. Produced by Shrikant Mohta under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films, it stars Mithun Chakraborty and Jeet, two biggest superstars of Bengal for the first time together, along with Debashree Roy, Koel Mallick and Rajatava Dutta in lead roles, while Bharat Kaul, Kaushik Banerjee, Sumit Ganguly, Sanjib Dasgupta and N. The story revolves around a police officer who is falsely accused of murdering his wife and imprisoned as he has been investigating a rape case that involves the younger brother of a powerful MLA. The officer then manages to evade the prison and get his revenge.
Calcutta 71 is a 1972 Bengali film directed by noted Indian art film director Mrinal Sen. This film is considered to be the second film of Mrinal Sen's Calcutta trilogy, the others two being Interview, and Padatik. The film is a collection of stories depicting the 1970s. The Naxalite movement, starvation of common people, and social and political corruption are shown. There are four stories shown in the film.
Dui Prithibi is a 1980 classic Bengali movie directed by Piyush Bose. It stars Uttam Kumar, Ranjit Mallick, Victor Banerjee and Prosenjit Chatterjee. Ananda Shankar scored the music of the movie. Film is produced under the banner of Uttam's own foundation Shilpi Sangshad and this is the second film produced by Shilpi Sangshad. The film become superhit at the box office.
Chander Bari is a 2007 Bengali film directed by Tarun Majumdar. The film centers on a middle class joint family. The film is based on a Bengali story written by Pracheta Gupta. Majumdar used some Rabindra Sangeets in this film.
Paribar is a 2004 Bengali family drama film directed by Anup Sengupta and produced by Anup Sengupta and Apurba Saha. The film feature actors Prosenjit Chatterjee, Ranjit Mallick and Rachana Banerjee in the lead roles. Ashok Bhadra composed the music for the film.

The film is about a poor village boy named Jayanta Bose who becomes a popular singer but faces roadblocks and tragedies on the way.

It was produced by Acropoliis Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and starred Riju Biswas, Ushasi Ray, Jeetu Kamal, Debjani Chakraborty and Ishaan Majumder in the lead roles. The show was replaced by Pratidaan.
Aporajeyo is a 2023 Indian Bengali-language film directed by Nehal Dutta. The film stars Ranjit Mallick, Sabitri Chatterjee, and Laboni Sarkar. In this film Ranjit Mallick returned to the big screen by playing the character of Subhankar Sanyal.
