Irsa Ghazal is a Pakistani television actress known for her roles in television serials such as Mirat-ul-Uroos (1988), Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi (2013), Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai (2015), O Rangreza (2017), Aangan (2018) and Ishq Jalebi (2021).

Personal life

Ghazal is the daughter of former actress, Syeda Ismat Tahira. Her half sister Ushna Shah is also an actress. [1]

Career

Ghazal made her acting debut from PTV's Mirat-ul-Uroos in 1988. Then, she appeared in television serials such as Samjhauta Express , Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi and Kahi Unkahi , the second one of which earned her nomination of Lux Style Award for Best TV Actress. She further appeared in television serials such as O Rangreza , Aangan , Ruswai and Ishq Jalebi . [2] [3] [4] From 2023 to 2024, she played Razia Sultana, a dominant matriarch in Mannat Murad , and received praise for her portrayal. [5]

Mirat-ul-Uroos is an Urdu language novel written by Indian author Nazir Ahmad Dehlvi, also popularly known as Deputy Nazir Ahmad, (1830–1912) and published in 1869. The novel contains themes promoting the cause of female education in Muslim and Indian society, and is credited for giving birth to an entire genre of fictional works promoting female literacy in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Kashmiri and other languages of the Indian subcontinent. Mirat-ul-Uroos is a Pakistani telenovela inspired by the novel of the same name by Nazir Ahmad Dehlvi. It was directed by Anjum Shahzad and written by Umera Ahmad. It aired on Geo Entertainment in Pakistan from 4 December 2012 to 6 June 2013. The story of the serial revolves around the granddaughters of Akbari, played by Aamina Sheikh and Mehwish Hayat, and the grandsons of Asghari, played by Mikaal Zulfiqar and Ahsan Khan, who later married.

Ullu Baraaye Farokht Nahi is a Pakistani drama television series based on the afsana of the same name by Amna Mufti, which was first published in 2009 in a monthly Urdu journal Shuaa. Directed by Kashif Nisar, the series stars an ensemble cast of Nauman Ijaz, Sohail Ahmed, Saba Qamar, Uzma Hassan, Irsa Ghazal, Yumna Zaidi, and Noman Masood in prominent roles. Dealing with the subject of feudalism and Watta satta, the series is a dark tale of revenge, violence and tragedy that destroys two families.
