Isabel Freese (born 19 January 1979) is a Norwegian dressage rider. She competed at the 2022 FEI World Championships in Herning as individual and also competed at the 2013 and 2017 European Championships. [1] Freese competed at several World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in which she won a bronze medal in 2018 and 2019. [2]
Freese started riding at the age of six in her hometown Oslo. At the age of 20 she moved to Germany to pursue her equestrian career. [3] Freese was nominated by the Norwegian Equestrian Federation to represent Norway as individual at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. [4] She made it to the individual final, finishing 10th in the individual Freestyle with a personal best and Norwegian record of 83.050%, which is also the best result in history for a Norwegian dressage rider at the Olympics. Theodora Elisabeth Gerarda "Anky" van Grunsven is a Dutch dressage champion who is the only rider to record three successive Olympic wins in the same event. Along with her Olympic successes, she has won numerous medals at the World Equestrian Games (WEG), and is the only rider to have competed at every WEG since they began in 1990. Between 1990 and 2006, she competed at the Games in dressage, but in 2010 she was named as part of the Dutch reining team, marking a major change in discipline.
Isabell Werth is a German equestrian who has competed in dressage at seven Olympic Games —1992, 1996, 2000, 2008, 2016, 2020, 2024— winning the gold medal in the team event in all seven, and one gold and six silver medals in the individual event. She stands alone in having medals from seven Olympics, or across a span of 32 years; her 14 medals are the most for any German or equestrian. She also has numerous titles in the World and European Championships and World Cups.
Yvonne Losos de Muñiz is an Olympic athlete and international Grand Prix dressage rider. Born in Nigeria to Canadian parents, she represents the Dominican Republic internationally. She belongs to the elite Dominican Olympic athlete program CRESO.
Ingrid Klimke is a German eventing rider. She appeared at five Olympics from 2000 to 2016. With her horse Abraxxas, she won two gold medals in team eventing at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she won a team silver with Hale-Bob.
Laura Tomlinson MBE is a German-British dressage rider competing at Olympic level. As of 30 June 2012 the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) ranked her 3rd in the world riding Mistral Højris and 36th on Andretti H. In that year, Tomlinson, riding Mistral Højris under her maiden name of Laura Bechtolsheimer, won two medals in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London; gold for Great Britain in the team dressage with Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin, the first ever Olympic team gold in the discipline for her country, and bronze in the individual dressage behind gold medalist and compatriot Dujardin.
Charlotte Susan Jane Dujardin is a British dressage rider, equestrian, and writer. A multiple World and Olympic champion, Dujardin has been described as the dominant dressage rider of her era. She held the complete set of available individual elite dressage titles at one point: the individual Olympic freestyle, World freestyle and Grand Prix Special, World Cup individual dressage and European freestyle, and Grand Prix Special titles. Dujardin was the first rider to hold this complete set of titles at the same time.
Sophie Wells is a British para-equestrian who won three medals at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, and 2 Golds and 1 Silver at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, and most recently Team Gold and Individual Silver at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
Ellen Birgitte "EB" Farbrot is a Norwegian dressage rider. She competed at two World Equestrian Games and two European Dressage Championships.
Zaneta Skowronska is a Polish dressage rider. Representing Poland, she competed at two World Equestrian Games and at four European Dressage Championships.
Morgan Barbançon Mestre is a French and Spanish Olympic dressage rider. Representing Spain, she competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London where she finished 7th in team competition and 23rd in the individual competition.
Laura Graves is an American dressage rider. She represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympics where she won a bronze medal in the team dressage competition. After winning double silver medals at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, NC, Laura became the first American dressage rider to be ranked No. 1 in FEI World rankings, aboard her longtime partner Verdades.
Julie Claire Brougham was a New Zealand equestrian, competing in dressage. She became New Zealand's oldest Olympic competitor when she competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro at age 62.
Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour is a Danish Olympic dressage horse rider. Representing Denmark, she competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro where she finished 13th in the individual and 6th in the team competition. At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, she finished 4th in both the individual and team dressage events.
Kelly Layne is an Australian Dressage rider and trainer. She planned on qualifying to represent her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. However, Layne was unable to compete in the final qualifying event due to an injury suffered by her horse, Udon P, forcing her to withdraw. While born in Australia, Layne is currently based in Wellington, Florida. Layne also helped found her own riding team, "Dream Team Dressage".
Charlotte Fry is an Olympic, European Championships and World Championships medal-winning British dressage rider. As of August 2024, Fry has a total of 90 victories and is currently third in the FEI World Dressage Ranking.
Carina Cassøe Krüth is a Danish equestrian athlete. Cassøe Krüth competed at several World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. In 2018 she became 4th in the seven years old final with Heiline's Danciera. One year later she made her international debut in the international Grand Prix with the black mare, but in 2020 they made their breakthrough in international dressage by scoring over the 80%.
Dinja van Liere is a Dutch dressage rider. She competed at the European Dressage Championships in Hagen 2021 and was the traveling reserve for the Dutch team at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Justina Vanagaitė is a Lithuanian dressage rider. Representing Lithuania, she competed at the 2022 World Equestrian Games and at the 2021 European Dressage Championships. She placed 44th place in individual dressage at the 2022 World Equestrian Games with her horse Nabab.
Abigail Lyle is an Irish dressage rider. She competed at the 2022 FEI World Equestrian Games representing the Irish team with her horse Giraldo. In 2023 she competed at the 2023 European Dressage Championships in Riesenbeck and is currently the highest ranked Irish dressage rider in the FEI World Dressage Ranking. Lyle is based in England where she runs her stables.
Victoria Gulliksen is a Norwegian show jumping rider. She competed at the 2022 FEI World Championships in Herning and at over ten European Championships in her career, from Juniors up to Senior level. Gulliksen was also part of the 2023 FEI World Cup Finals in Omaha and took part in the World Breeding Championships.
