Ishaan Ghosh is the son and disciple of the Tabla and Sitar maestro Pandit Nayan Ghosh. [2] [3] [4] Ishaan is a Tabla player from the Farrukhabad Gharana. [2]
Ishaan was born on 20 May 2000 to Pandit Nayan Ghosh. [1]
He is the grandson of the 20th-century Tabla player Padmabhushan Pandit Nikhil Ghosh and the grand-nephew of the flautist Pandit Pannalal Ghosh. [5] His uncle is Pandit Dhruba Ghosh. [6] Ishaan gave his first Tabla solo recital when he was 2 years old.
Ghosh has performed with players of Indian classical music including his father Pandit Nayan Ghosh, Pandit Jasraj, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta, Ustad Aashish Khan, Ustad Nishat Khan, Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, violin legend Dr. N Rajam, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Rahul Deshpande, Rakesh Chaurasia and Purbayan Chatterjee. He was awarded with the ‘Baba Allauddin Khan Yuva Puraskar’ by the Government of Madhya Pradesh in 2012, the ‘Achievement Award’ by President Jimmy Carter in 2016 & the ‘Rising Star Award’ in 2019. [6]

Swara Samrat festival is a four-day annual festival of Indian classical music and dance held during the winters in Kolkata, India. Pandit Nikhil Jyoti Ghosh was an Indian musician, teacher and writer, known for his proficiency in the percussion instrument of tabla. He founded Sangit Mahabharati, an institution of music in 1956, and performed on various stages in India and abroad. A recipient of the Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan Award, his style was known to have been aligned with the Delhi, Ajrada, Farukhabad, Lucknow and Punjab gharanas of music. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1990, for his contributions to Music.

Rashid Mustafa is a Tabla player empanelled in the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in 2010 under the category Tabla for Hindustani classical music. Mustafa was awarded the Thirakwa Award by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 1984 and also received the Crystal Award from Yehudi Menuhin in Davos, Switzerland.
